New Tacoma owner here, first time truck buyer after years of driving little VWs. I always wanted a truck but it didn't make sense with my commute so when I had some extra cash I splurged. My Tacoma will be mostly used to haul around little league softball equipment, a pavement princess. Although I'm hoping for a harsh winter to test it out.

The threads here are entertaining and very tempting to do upgrades. I'm considering adding a bed rack, bull bar and/or fender flare but I'm going to hold off and check out what other guys in my area are doing.

The big question I have is whether I should have received a spare tailgate key with my truck. The woman who gave me the keys didn't know but promised me a spare. It's been a month and I've asked a few times now but they aren't delivering. It's a pain not having one because my wife borrows the truck and she needs her own key.

Congrats on the purchase. I guess Toyota is getting cheap. My dad had to get an extra valet key for his new Camry.
My 2017 has a physical key in both of my key fobs.
Good luck! And wish you much snow for some fun!

Thanks. I think I'm going to have to write a letter to the dealership, their managers got my money and stopped responding.

    Welcome,

My new Limited only came with one Tailgate Key.
I did get two remote key fobs for push button start, door unlocks.
Maybe the dealer can make you an extra one for tail gate.
Do you have the metal strip that has the key number pressed into it
for Key replacement?, should be attached with one of the key fobs.
I believe the dealer can install a remote tailgate lock that works with
    your current key fob.

Isn't there a key that slides into the key fob. Also check the center console lid, sometimes they put them where the pen is to reside.
    Welcome to TW!

Found it! Thanks. I would have never thought to look inside the fob. I wonder why no one at the dealership clued me in when I kept asking.
