We bought one of those for our vanagon when we had it. Cute, and personal but it didn't do much in the way of actually cooling things down. We also had this one and it worked better: https://www.amazon.com/Fan-Tastic-V...e=UTF8&qid=1542727576&sr=8-3&keywords=fan+12v
but also costs a lot more. We ordered the fan on the Drifter ($ even more). However it's one less item cluttering up the back and my understanding is that it will be more powerful than the Endless Breeze. FWIW, the primary reason we got (all of) the fans is to be able to cool down our heat sensitive Boston Terrier.

Thanks for the heads up on the rail caps. I will be meeting with a fab shop next week to explore solutions for gen 1 Tundra rail caps so my Drifter can have a consistent sealing surface all around.

Are there known leaking issues with the stock bed rail caps? I get that the aluminum ones seem better in every way, so I guess I'm just curious if people have had issues.

Hi Senator, Not with the Drifter that I know of but the N is still relatively small. I believe its known to be a problem with stock rail caps and toppers more generally so we are just being preemptive given we live in the rainy PNW. Given all the holes on the bed rail, it's easy to envision this being a problem, but cold, hard evidence is lacking.

Hasn't really rained in NorCal yet, but I'm putting the KB Voodoo caps on now so I don't find out the hard way.

Hmm, why not justseal around the bed caps? Mine drifter hasn't leaked and i have been in some pretty heavy rain storms since i got it. Speaking of which, what is everyone using to clean the drifter? Mine is oxidizing very fast, Phil/Iggy recommended denatured alcohol which doesn't make sens to remove oxidization, typically you need an acidic solution. That would be more for removing grease, which I do not have on the canopy. Need something that won't damage the paint on the truck, then I need to seal the aluminum with a clear coat or something.

Yea I sealed the oem bed caps with a whole tube of silicone, but better be safe than sorry. I don’t want to worry about leaks in the bed, especially with the cabinets I built back there.

Btw, any pics of the oxidation?

Last sunny day for what looks like a long while (finally!), so I put the extra leaf in my HD packs to get ready to come down for delivery in a couple weeks. ARB misdelivered medium packs in error but it was interesting to have them side by side. They show no unloaded height difference over HD btw.

Thicc pack. The longer center pin will take at least one more leaf if I need it. Depending on how drawers work out and the water tank full, and possibly an LRA tank from Cruiser Brothers, I may do it.

My 096 pack was W shaped with a bed rack and RTT so be mindful when adding stuff, 660 pound rating seemed quite a bit off.

    Custom springs or bust.

This is now a "097" and can be an "098" if needed. Unfortunately Deavers or Alcans are too far out to get in time for my build schedule, so I went with this option.

The Deaver II measures 2 3/4" with 8 leafs. The EL095R is 2 3/8" with 6 leafs. The EL096R is 2 3/4" with 7 leafs. This setup is 3" with 8 leafs, which I guess puts it in the Deaver stage 2-3 range, and with another leaf would be Deaver 3+. I think the game is about leaf thickness and pack composition. All Pro has a 2/3 length leaf at the top of their pack that they say helps with wheel hop for example.

Portland had an ancient (they made horse buggy springs in 1922) shop called Benz Spring that I was going to consult on a custom pack. Even more convenient, they've moved near me to Salem. I figure anyone in the game that long has to know how things work.

I can get the pic's of the oxidization, just looks like typical aluminum oxidization from salt, whitish in colour/etc.

A lil this a lil that.
Everyone has different needs and expectations...I recommend if you're having questions find both and get in one and Invision how you would use it..also check how its built..all of it...like previously stated if you're only going to do fair weather camping ventilation might not be an issue, but being stuck with a 5500 + unit and realizing you should have ponied up the rest cash and went vagabond isnt a good feeling.

Also any pop up in my opinion is light years ahead of a rtt.

Mind sharing the specs? I guess the weight they’re designed to carry is what I’m wondering

Mine will be designed to carry the 800-900lb constant weight rating and maintain the lift. Will be stiff as hell should i ever get ride of the drifter /etc. I'll probably transfer all this kit over to a new tacoma here in a year anyways, and put this one to bed.
