So since you don't plan on being that hardcore, if you got only the front skid you'd be just fine. If that ends up being the case, I think steel without reinforcements would also work. Much cheaper and the weight difference is only 25 lbs or so? Something to consider.

 

Update after pushing the order buttom finaly was able to get the mobtown nerfbars ordered.

 

The steel with reinforcements (I assume) is twice the weight according to the site 32 lbs. vs 65 lbs. The price is $85 more for the aluminum. I would not get the aluminum without the reinforcements. I honestly would not want the steel without them either. Better to have them and not need them than not have them and need them. No tax and I would pick it up, so I can meet Joe and the crew of course.

Then as time goes on I would follow up with rest of the other skids in aluminum as well, and then sliders.

I just feel like the front is as important if not more than the mid for my purpose. I also worry about the added weight on those coils since I can't change them out. I don't think.

I really wanna strike while the iron is hot too and they are offering the discount.

Well, if you add the reinforcements to both. If you do the steel without them then the price difference is huge.
Like I said I think the weight difference is considerable comparing the two with them (the reinforcements).

Then too, I am taking the fact that I drive the truck primarily in the winter and how much salt is used up here when it snows. So I think aluminum will win out in that respect too.

I am obviously going to paint them myself. Or bed liner or whatever. Naturally the inside treatment will have to special, right Mike @Comatose ?

Aluminum corodes in this salty chemical mess we get here in the winter quicker than steel. Just look under a semi trailer after a few years of use.

no afe retains the 2 cats but deletes the back 2, doesnt matter since there are no downward sensors for the back cats.

I am going to be putting a used Mobtown Aluminum Transfer Case Skid (stock exhaust configuration) up for sale. I had the exhaust rerouted and am replacing the skid.

 

No more HC now

It will also work with the rerouted exhaust configuration. It just hangs lower than a t-case skid for rerouted exhaust.

 

How much lower?
