TRD Sport 2WD lift and tires.

I got my first truck 2 weeks ago, a new-to-me 2016 Tacoma TRD Sport 2WD with 5K on it. I'm 99.99% city/hwy driver, I'm not concerned about not to have 4WD being totally honest. I have been reading that lift a 2WD has no sense or/and lift my truck will impact my driving experience a lot and not in a good way. No idea if those statements are totally true or not.

I really want to make my truck look a litter bit nicer, that means to me lift it enough to install a 265/70r17 without any rubbing, nothing crazy.

My questions:

1. Lift my truck will affect my driving experience?
2. What good kit I can use to lift my 2WD truck that will not affect it at long term?
3. What good-looking tires do you recommend for a city driver? (I pretend to use the stock wheel)

I would just level the front with 5100’s and get wheel spacers with the 265/70. That makes a huge improvement looks wise.

@dc7rr1 I have been reading a lot about the 5100s, some people use them in the 4 wheels but I don't know if for a 2WD that make sense.

 

Your suspension is the same as a 4x4s. What you can use in one, you can use in the other.

 

Just order the front leveling kit from Headstrong and add the aftermarket wheel and tire combo of your choice.

It will be more than fine for the occasional dirt road and will completely change the look of the truck.

I'd like to do the Adjustable Bilstein 5100's, just not sure what springs or if I'd need to add anything else in the back? AAL?

I bought new 4Runner TRD Pro wheels 17x7 just waiting to get tires, maybe 285's after I lift the truck a bit; instead of 265's.

There will be a cmc in your future with that 285.

 

275's max? or stay with 265's and spacers?

 

Not sure they make a 275 tire, but yes the 265 75 16 or 265 70 17
Is no rubbing anything bigger is a gamble
