    I have a 2001 Tacoma four door pre-runner with a 3.5 6 cylinder.

The battery died and sat for six months. Recharged and ended up with illregular spark code. P300, P303, P304 Turned out a bad coil also replaced all three with wires and ome plugs. Tank was almost empty and I filled it with fresh gas. Cleared all codes that were only related to the spark. I have put close to 200 miles now but the CAT and EVAP
    will not clear for readiness.

There are no current codes coming up.

    Anybody have any suggestions

It can take several hundred miles for the emissions cycle to reset and for the monitors to be 'ready', I would give it some more time and miles

the evap monitor is a 2 pass test meaning that the following will have to be completed 2 times.

Fuel tank no less than 1/4 and no fuller than 3/4.
Intake air temp sensor has to be within 10 degrees of the coolant temp sensor.
Truck has to sit min of 8 hrs.

if it throws an evap code after this, put a fuel cap on it and repeat.

the Cat monitor is a series of driving proceedures... accelerate to 30 slow down, freeway speeds for so long of a period etc, in other words, normal driving. The exact conditions can be found by Googling "Drive Cycles".

Thank you this is very helpful, I have only two days left to get this to work and then I lose my ability to drive the vehicle or extend the registration even a temporary pass. It’s a Texas thing you only get 3 30 day temporary passes On the life of the vehicle. So even if the previous owner pulled a pass that counts.

I’ve yet to have a code pop up since I cleared the spark plug codes just FYI.

Most smog states recognize the difficulty of getting all the smog monitors to run. Depending on the year of the vehicle the smog test will run with one or two monitors not complete, depending on what that particular montor is. A Cat monitor has to be complete, the evap monitor not so much.

Just had a similar problem with the Evap monitor showing inc after P0441 code cleared. It took over 2 weeks of daily driving and over 200 miles. I think the outside temp may have been a issue with the tests not actually running to clear the monitor. t has been unusually cool in Texas for this time of year. Keep driving and watching.

smog monitors are odd at times... reset the PCM and and sometimes they all clear in 20 minutes, other times they take forever.

Thanks I’ll look into that. I do know they here in Texas only give 3- 30 day temporary Drive permits for the life of the vehicle despite the owner. I’m on number two.
