I am a dealership technician and have been for the past 15 years. If the dealer denies your claim you need to ask them why it has been denied. Take their reasoning and call Toyota directly and start a dispute with them. Complaining to the manufacture will force them to open a care case on the vehicle and investigate as to why the claim was denied. Typically the dealer doesn't make the final decision as to what gets warrantied or not. We file claims and they ask for data and make their decision off of this. They deny more claims than they allow. Most of the time once a care case is started they just buckle and push it through.

No there not hinting nothing, they just need to get it verified before they give away 5k. He’s golden, by buying the extended warranty, by having same dealer do all maintenance. It will work the way it supposed to. The maintenance on that truck is all in the computer and his warranty money is in there pocket. It’s just his turn to collect now.

OP. Dont let them screw you. THey may try.

You bought an extended warranty, dont let them play games. It damn well better be covered!.

You kinda put them in a pickle. Maybe they were bullshitting about the transmission not realizing you had the warranty.

    Keep us up.

Insurance companies don't make money by paying out claims. They make money by NOT paying. The contracts are written with specific intention to make you think that you're buying coverage that you really are not.

I *hope* that they cover this guy's transmission, but there is a possibility that they may use "fine print" to try to get out of it.

Verification means asking the Toyota LAWYERS if they can get out of covering it.

    What fine print?
Show me exactly where it says that the transmission is excluded?

I put "fine print" in quotes to indicate that their verbiage was selected in a deliberately confusing way to have the same effect as fine print without actually BEING fine print.

As I said, it doesn't have to be EXCLUDED.
It has to be INCLUDED, and it is NOT INCLUDED.

If it covers airbag sensors. I'd bet some serious money that it covers a transmission and the OP's problem.

Never buy extended warranties. Never use the dealer for repairs. They make money on both ends.

I'd get a 2nd opinion at an independent shop.

You'll eat these words when Toyota pays for a brand new transmission for him.

That's not the actual contract so we really don't know what it actually covers. There are different types of contracts, Exclusionary (covers everything but a certain list of items), stated competent (covers what it says and only that), Power-train (usually just the internally lubricated parts), and then a WRAP (supplements the bumper-to-bumper). If we had the actual contract we would know for sure. I'd be shocked if it didn't. I would like to read it though to know what kind it is and the OP could simply ask what kind it is. That's what I would do. You can usually get the rep to stretch a bit.
