Trying to figure out the best way from a form, function and aesthetics perspective which would be the best order to get lifted, new rubber and some step bars.

If you get the tires first you will get lifted and think you possibly coulda got bigger tires.

    The bars can wait.

My opinion get your lift and tires together if you can afford to. Then hold off on the bars IMO.

    1. Bars first - for protection right away
    2. Tires next - because the stock one's suck
    3. Lift - by then you should know if you need a lift or not

I would do steps since they do not affect lift or tires.. but i got rock sliders? After that choose which tire size you want 33, 35 whatever than get the lift to fit tires first, then put the tires on.

Assuming you know you're going to get all three then get lift, tires then bars so everything looks right after being lifted. Of course, make sure you know how much you want to lift and stick with it or you'll have to do it all over again :D

Tires-Lift-Skid Plate/Sliders if you plan on wheeling. This way you can increase skill, rig preparedness and difficulty of trail at the same time. No need for step-bars unless your a MallCrawler. If you do fall under the last category just do what ever mods your friends will think look the coolest and/or matches the way you wear a hat.

I went lift first. Next is going to be tires... or might go bars, it is hard for me to waste perfectly good tires.

Lift it, then pick out the perfect tire/wheel combo, next sliders, then a s/c, then drive it!

Lift MUST come before tires. This way you will not cut too much fender/bumper to make the larger tires fit before the lift goes on. I did lift first then tires and I was able to trim a little bit at a time and didn't cut too much like some people do.

Sliders can go before or after, doesn't really matter.

Am I one of the only people that think a lifted truck on stock tires looks like crap?

Big tires on stock suspension looks much better. You can fit 285s on stock suspension if you are doing it just for looks.

That statement is so incomplete on so many levels it's not even funny.

    Wheel type (stock vs. aftermarket)

Stock: tread pattern on tires, wheel spacers vs UCA clearance

Aftermarket: Wheel offset, wheel size, wheel width, backspace, tread pattern on tires, wheel spacers vs UCA and caliper clearance, fender trimming, cab mount cutting and welding, bumper trimming all play a role.

We've got to remember that most people asking questions like this REALLY DON'T KNOW all that's involved.

Here's a guy with 265's rubbing on the first page of today's posts... http://www.tacomaworld.com/forum/2nd-gen-tacomas/100165-rubbing-duratracs-dc2s.html

I voted the first option, but I would not do nerf bar (or anything like it). I would buy sliders that can work the same way, Because they won't get damaged offroad. This is the order that I'm doing my mods. Right now i have a lift front and rear, Soon to come is my tires and a year or more down the road I'm putting on sliders (maybe).

+1 for lift, tires, then bars.

As stated before, if you're getting large enough tires for the lift... you must lift it first. Personally I'd save up and do them at the same time (still lift first, drive over, do the tires).

As for bars... if you plan to wheel at ALL, get sliders. Bars will eliminate the additional clearance you just gained through the lift and go back to stock essentially (if you're doing about a 2.5" lift like most). Sliders do a lot more than a bar... from body protection to door dent protection, to being a fine step themselves (just paint them with some rustoleom hammer so they are nice and grippy). Worth their weight in gold if not more.

lift first then see what ya wanna stuff on there for tires, bars(sliders) are important to but they can wait til after the lift and tires.

Exactly he can do bigger tires with out a lift. Put bigger tires on you get the looks some extra clearance and then you can lift it. Lifting with 245 tires in some trucks case will look ridiculous.
