Mine only shutters under 1500 rpm's when trying to shift from fourth to fifth and vice versa. You say yours shutters at 45 mph and increases as you get faster? Mine stops when I floor it or let off the gas. sounds like you have a u-joint issue or your driveshaft is out of balance. What I can say is that tacomas have gremlins livin in them, but I still love them.

Also, I figured out that when I floor it, it stops and when I let off the brake it stops. It will only happen when I keep the gas at the same spot and it staying under 2000 rpm's. I will also take it to a transmission shop and Toyota.

Same here just normal driving. thought that might be a shift solenoid getting stuck since under pressure it works fine.

I still can't believe there are this many of us with what appears to be the same problem and no one has a sure nuff solution (other than trade in) Google seems to lean towards torque converter. I was pretty sold on shift solenoid till someone said the scanner said it was workin fine, however his vibes were not the same as mine or exActly as describe by op either. it seem logical that one of those two things could fix the issue, and if two of u want to try those(T converter and solenoid) and post results and it fixes it, I have no problem adding a co-solver to this problem. just throwing an offer on the table. if it were me, and I drew the torque converter straw, id go ahead and upgrade to a billit tc but its if call.

I am nervous about flushing the system. I am going To keep driving with the over drive off on back roads and shifting it back into "d" when I am on the hwy's. I have not had a problem since I have been doing that, however, it is drinking the gas a lot faster. Until I come up with the funds, just in case, to fix or replace the transmission I will be doing what I said. I should have the funds by the end of the year.

Noticed mine shift fine when its cold (before the engine warms up not the outside temp) thinkin cuz the fluid is a little thicker. could I run a quart out and put some Lucas trans treatment in and possible fix this by thickeining the fluid? And insight would be appreciated.

A little more research for you posted here . Not saying your issue relates to anything posted in the links I provided but may help .
    http://www.tacomaworld.com/forum/te...hift-kit-shift-recalibration-kit-2nd-gen.html

I have never had the opportunity to overhaul the A750E .
I sure miss my membership at TRNI .
I will continue to improve my link as I learn more about the transmission .

I have overhauled many Aisn Warner automatic transmissions . For the most part , a good reliable transmission producer . I beleive all domestic and import manufacturers now use this company for transmission applications . Each transmission design has its own bunch of common headaches/ design flaws . Some of these headaches or design flaws are engineered into the transmission and some are simply poor design .In our case the A750E has torque converter shudder issues or so they say . Overall , the A750E has a good track record other than this dreaded shudder that some of you experience .
Proper diagnosis is the key .
I see a lot of posts at TW where the OP had his torque converter replaced and the issue was resolved . Who manufacturers the torque converter for Aisn Warner ? anyone know ? what compounds are they using on their lock up friction disc ?
Are they applying the converter too early , too late ? partial apply ?
Lock up torque converters have been around for half a century and the function they play within the transmission/drivetrain is designed to save you a lot of fuel .
This new fancy WS transmission fluid may have something to do with the shudder .
I beleive half of the warranty torque converters you guys had replaced were actually converter issues and caused by shift management programming .
    More to come .

I left for a backpacking trip for a month. I come back and my truck seems to be working fine. Haven't had the issue since I've been back (been back for a week). I don't know if it's because the truck sat for a month or it's the cold weather.... Making the fluid thicker? Either way I think I have decided not to flush my system. It's a 50/50 shot. Flush it and it solves the problem or it kills the transmission. I am probably just going to do what I originally said and keep shifting the overdrive off and on. I have 116,000 miles on it already. If anything I'll get what I can out of the tran and replace it when needed. This is a tricky situation. I do believe it is the torque converter! When having a automatic transmission draining the fluid and replacing it really won't do anything. There is still a lot I fluid that does not come out (probably more than half will not drain). The proper way would be to flush it (to get all the fluid out).

I would have to say it's probably your TC. Mine was shuddering under the same conditions when up-shifting. Mine was pretty bad but once the TC was replaced the difference was night and day. Be prepared to shell out some cash for the repairs... Good luck OP

Did a drain and fill. its much better now still shifted rough the first few times but velvety now. I think I had a touch too much fluid in it and that's why it we fine till it warmed up. when I flushed 2 years ago I didnt get it up to temp I guess.

I want to check the fluid level in my trans... I know of a thread on here somewhere about a DIY method... Will probably be doing this in the next couple weeks

Mine has gotten way worse. Does a slow shutter to a really fast vibration/shutter. Only between 30-45 mph. I'm going to take it to the Toyota dealer ship. I have no idea what it is. Either Torque converter or transmission.

I am having the same issue. Probably brought on by my own laziness. 124k and never changed the trans fluid. About 1k ago it started. Same low RPM shutter before shifting. Dropped pan, changed filter, pulled a total of four quarts out, and added four new quarts. Still having the issue. May take to Toyota to drain all 12 quarts and fill in the next couple weeks.

Some one please tell us all what the cause of this is!

I have a 2013 4x4 TRD 65k miles. I took the truck to get the fluids flushed and now I am having the exact same issue. Shifting to 4th and 5th at low RPM 1500-2000, at 35-40 mph it feels like the rear end is vibrating / driving over the wake up bumps on the side of the road.

What was done in the shop was the front and rear differential service, 4x4 fluid service & automatic transmission power flush.

I am taking it back in on Monday to see what they say after looking at it. I will let everyone know unless someone can tell me what has caused the issue.

(All maintenance has been done by the dealership)
