The thing that's really weird - if I immediately re-start the truck after shutting it off, it will crank and start normally. Now figure that one out lol. It's only a small window of time in which I get the "superstart" effect.
I've caught myself trying to figure out why this happens: like some fuel that got sprayed on the back of my intake valves right at shutdown has lingered in a coupla cylinders. Then I snap out of it and realize it doesn't fucking matter lol.

It is fun to think about.

Someone, somewhere, did a 'study' that found that in the EFI-age shutting down for any amount of time saves fuel as essentially no additional fuel is used for hot starts. Now, what the thousands of sensors are telling the ECU in the Taco is an utter mystery. It could be the MAF sensing or heating up, the D-4S fighting between MPI and DI, or the O2 sensors are angry since they are confused by the heat soak from the integrated headers versus the rapid cooling downstream?

But yeah, as long as it starts, life is good.

Oh yeah.. I did have another quirky issue that is giving me guff the last 3 or 4 days...
I now have to be at a dead stop to get the 1st gear lock to disengage and allow me to downshift to it. Before now I could always release the "lock" simply by rev matching... and now it doesn't seem to matter it just wont go into 1st Unless you are not moving.

Kinda makes pulling into the parking lot at the store a pain in the ass... either have to bog out 2nd gear, or stop first holding up anyone who happens to be pulling in behind me

It won't go in, even with a rev match??

Well, that and reverse was a bastard on mine when new... it's butter now though.

There is no lockout on 1st gear that I am aware of? Just triple syncros that take forever to break in.

I downshift into 1st when rolling pretty often. Even after 14k, it is still a bit more stiff than the rest.

Truth. Triple cone synchros on gears 1 to 3. They do take forever to break in, on my truck 3rd was the worst.

I say lock just as a way of getting my point across is all. I.. I usually only downshift to 1st at less than 10mph... and it usually happens without any problems...
Now it wont let you do it period... and if you give it any more than a light touch itll grind even with the clutch disengaged and matching revs

2nd took a while for me. 1st is still breaking in, but getting smoother. With the TSB and accumulator delete, I can drop it into 1st smoothly at around 20mph.

    Everybody needs to.

Since the drop in block is not feasible, the 12in line plus coupler should be almost as easy?

There's really nothing to break. If you can mess with brakes and form a section of hard line, you can do this!

Just take both TSBs with you, tell them you have all the symptoms, and get 'er done.

Otherwise, find a friendly TW'er to sideload it. That is what I did.

Yeah I just gotta get off my ass and commit to doing it. Hell, I even have access to a huge, warm shop (after hours) with lifts and a few mechanic friends to help out with the dick fingers situation lol.

There you go! It took me forever to just investigate under the shield, so I get it. But then, I am almost kicking myself that I didn't do it as soon as I knew it existed. Just wait until you off road without it the first time. CONTROL!!
