I skip 5th gear all together... who needs a second OD gear anyway... Unless I have a trailer behind me I dont need it. At 80mph it is a measly 200rpm difference... worthless Imo

 

I hear that, and I mostly use 5th on back roads when I'm going 30-40mph. Believe it or not, I can also cruise in 6th at 1300-1500 rpm.. as long as there are no real hills and a lot of traffic. I think that's like 45mph.

 

I usually keep the engine speed around 2.5 to 3k around town personally. Makes it easier if I need to do any quick acceleration at the drop of a hat

I'll run 2nd gear to 20mph steady. 3rd to 35mph steady, and 4th all the way up to 50 Unless I am going to be at that speed a while in which case I'll bump it to 6th.

 

Same here,I either skip 4th or 5th gear.

 

Oh for sure, when I need to accelerate in that situation I just flip the shifter up out of 6th, let it slide straight up into 3rd and rev match into it lol.

 

No you can’t, that’s for sure. Even with the accumulator delete I still feel like this clutch requires to much attention but it is a big improvement. It’s way to light..damn near zero feel.

 

Well, I think we may have revived the MT thread boys... it went pretty silent for a while there... hasn't seen this many replies in ages.

 

I don't want to sound like a fanboi, but the thing that I like the most about the tune is the midrange performance on the highway in 6th. 70mph is the absolute sweet spot for my truck. Just tip into it a little bit and off we go. It's effortless. Anyway, back to the program.

 

Its okay to be a fan of not having a shitty shifting vehicle... and more power to boot.

 

dont like going 70. At 60 my truck is seeing 3k rpm.

 

Really? Hmm mine barely rides 3k at 80... then again maybe I am mistaken

93 with a 5sp 4.86 gears need taller tires. Un lifted the thing. Wish i hadnt.

Ah, ok. These new trucks are more like cars on the highway. The auto has really tall OD gears and taller axle ratios than the manual trucks.

 

Yes cant wait to get my 08 back. Better on the highway, more comfy ride. But wish it didnt have all those electonics. What ever happened to getting manual windows am radio no ac (who needs it) mechanical guages.

 

I'm ok with some creature comforts. The one thing I do wish was manual - transfer case. Like the one in some new 4runners.

 

Just ordered a fj tcase and doing the twin mod.
