TRD/ Magnuson 4.0 Supercharger Tips, Tricks, and Mods

Wonder if my gauge isnt reading correctly. Is it important to have the sensor in a vertical position? Or horizontal? Must it be close to the boost port? I'm puzzled. My meth gauge boost reading is higher than my aem. Its hitting 10.

That doesn't sound right. Like at all with a 2.5... HOWEVER... how does it pull? If your reply is hard then I would not fret too much about those numbers because you are flowing air freely in and out of the engine.

Pulls like an animal. For a truck it screams. This is faster than my hemi charger was.

Okay then you have a bad boost gauge, or a bad boost sensor. Probably the boost sensor.

My truck will mop these hemi's out here honestly. Lol. A hemi? That's cute.

 

It's been awhile, but here's the one I have. I tried to find the lowest psi gauge I could... Too many went to 30psi.
I also wanted a name I knew, so far so good it's been consistent and I've been within the expected range since day 1

I am running the Ucon EMS like most here. I have a severe lean condition right before shifts, in which I have yet to confirm the cuprit so I don’t want to attribute that issue as the Ucon as of yet. You don’t need a Calgarian to tell ya this but stay away from the BD tune and prob Ovtune (atleast for now). If I was you I’d really dig at URD to see if Gadget has any real confirmed plans to come out with the whipple for our trucks.
If that’s the case the whipple is what you want. It would be unfortunate to pull the trigger on the ageing Magnuson SC and have URD release the whipple only months later. It’s a much larger compressor 2.3l vs the Maggie’s 1.5 and also is much more efficient and has way more head room for future power upgrades. Not to mention it will surely come with tuning (Ucon ems) and all supporting mods. If you order the Maggie and want more power, be prepared to pay for a upgraded pump, tuning etc. In the end it will outcost a Urd kit.

I also had trouble reaching him by phone, got impatient and ordered a Qwikchange kit (no pulley) from Pulley Boys. It was $69, shipped, for the hub, screws, wrench, and snout cap.

I was committed to pulleys without logos, which I can't believe PB doesn't sell in the 2.7/2.8 size range, so I flipped an email to Nate at Smoothflow. Once connected via email, he's been extremely responsive. I ordered two pulleys with the RIP mod machined-in. They were $147, shipped.

When I asked about hubs, he confirmed he does offer them, for $45/ea. (I don't believe that includes screws, wrench, snout cap, or shipping.) Recommend updating the first post (and/or the Qwikchange thread) to list Nate at Smoothflow as another source for hubs and (logo-free) pulleys. Best way to reach him seems to be via email - sales@smoothflowpulleys.com.

Indeed. I have driven it over a few things and it’s never hit. And I can now make it from Dallas to Amarillo on one tank.
