I went to Crown Toyota in Winnipeg and tried to get the software update because i have been experiencing the stumbling but they just looked at me funny and had no idea what i was talking about. Does anyone know if you bring yours truck in for service if they update the software and apply all the current T SBs ?

No, TSBs are only applied if the customer has a complaint that can be verified. Recalls are automatically applied. Just ask them to run a a health check and apply the update.

I left my manual truck in the driveway last night, truck was about -15 C when I started it. For the first 10 minutes, clutch pedal took a hell of a long time to extend to the engaged position after changing gears. I don't remember that happening last winter but I usually keep the truck in a heated garage.

Gear changes hard to do, too.

I don't actually think -15 C is that cold, it is going to get a hell of a lot colder soon!

Any easy corrective action I can take?

Could be moisture in the clutch fluid, try bleeding it. Same thing happened to a Mazda I had a few years ago.

Yup, go to the dealership and complain. It’s a brand new truck.

In minus -5’c I’ve felt my clutch operation be sluggish as well. However not really concerned, that feeling disappears after few mins of operation.

Only options would be to change viscosity of oil... however seeing as you’re full on warranty dealer is first stop.

relatively new member, so will tread lightly

"go to the dealership and complain" probably isn't the way to establish a good relationship with your service team.
I agree, go and ask, but don't complain.

Not sure where CZ5ANM is in BC, but -15 can thicken most automotive fluids. I'm in Alberta and my clutch did the same thing with my 2nd Gen when it got super cold. Once everything warmed up, back to normal. Just like he said.

I'm going to vote for normal given the condition you describe, but doesn't hurt to ask.

Complain : definition ; to express dissatisfaction.

People in the 3rd Gen forum like to complain about issues on their brand new truck. 33,233 threads and counting.

Dunno, my previous car was a manual Golf and it never behaved that way. I am wondering if the factory trans fluid fill is not synthetic?

I am pretty sure there is a clutch delay valve too, which doesn't help.

My dealer is useless, I know more about the truck than their stupid service department. I am not going there anymore, there was 27 psi in my tires when I got it back last week, I told them 35.

I don't think they will sell you a new one......but they will try very hard to find you one that is practically brand new to sell to you. The will approach a recent buyer of a model equipped how you want and offer that buyer a deal that can't refuse to slide into a new one. Sell the slightly used one to you. Everybody wins.

Just a gen2 TRD shift knob so far. Anxiously awaiting ovTune 1.05 with handheld tuner!
I think Toyota uses thicker oil than others. Ive had two Wranglers in -40 Fort McMurray and the clutch never stiffened like Toyota in -20

@fgeorge097 There are many wholesalers who buy up nearly-new Canadian trucks and sell them into the States. There are double decker trailers full of them crossing the border every day. It is also the reason you will not find much nearly new product on franchise dealer lots, when they receive such a truck they just call the wholesaler and he picks it up the next day. Essentially the Canadian dealer is buying it for C$35k wholesale, and together the dealer and the exporter are splitting US$35k.

The exporter is going through the used car ads every morning and makes a cash offer sight unseen to every private seller.

The dealer will get in a lot of trouble if he sells a new truck to an American customer. Toyota will find out because they will see the Canadian truck show up at a US dealer for service, and the Canadian dealer can lose his franchise unless there is a good story.

Does anyone in the Edmonton area have an ECGS bearing puller tool they don't need anymore? Trying to cut down on unnecessary shipping & duty cost when ordering a bushing.

Toyota put an accumulator in the hydraulic circuit.
And a very tight tolerance on the brake pedal shaft.
The grease on the shaft (to prevent squeaking) gets thick,
and the accumulator that acts like a dampener/"shock-absorber" gets sluggish due to it's tight tolerances and things shrinking in the cold.
There is also an "assist spring" that makes the clutch pedal pressure lighter that could be removed if you wanted to, but could get tiring in stop and go traffic until your left leg gets more muscles than your right. :)

    True story:

I put a part that was designed, tested and approved by his group, about to be launched into multiple platforms around the world...
    in an automotive LEAD Design Engineer's hand and said;
" Due to the delta in temperature from that part sitting in your hand, it is now out of tolerance and will cause functional issues in the field, what's going to happen when it hits Texas or Yellowknife let alone Africa or Siberia?"
Deer in the headlights look, that then turns to a look of concern with a bit of smugness,
    Holding his hands about a meter apart he says;
" Well 50 microns looks this big on my CAD screen".
I won't bother with the rest of the conversation as this is a family forum. ;)

There is a thread on here for the clutch accumulator delete.

For us ol' guys that learned to use a clutch in the old mechanical linkage or cable linkage days,
these new clutch systems with accumulators on them removes all the "feel" for the engage and disengage points.
Sorta like a driving a clutch with a condom on....
Good for people that are new to clutches, and it adds some reliability as it makes it harder to shock load the drivetrain by "dumping" the clutch.

You'll find a few minutes of driving it "goes back to normal" as the accumulator is behind the heat shield near the exhaust on the firewall. Warming up in the driveway does not get the heat as fast to the accumulator like driving does.

I'd film the pedal doing it's thing in your driveway in the morning, email the movie to your dealer ( date proof and proof it's happening).

They won't be able to duplicate it unless it sits in the cold enough to see it happen. And even if they do duplicate it, I sincerely doubt they will be able to "fix it".

Once they can't fix it and you have a few more movies, open up a case with Corporate and see if you can finagle an extended warranty, or a warranty on the clutch / throwout bearing and fork.

Realistically not going to add any appreciable wear (unless you have an extreme case) or unless you are trying to do burnouts out of your driveway in the morning. :)

But if enough of us make an issue with corporate, they may come up with a fix/service bulletin for it and a few may get some free extended warranties. :)
