It's cherry and Walnut and white oak that was cut well over 100 years ago.

Just using pine plywood with a scroll saw for detail. Really don’t want to make the plaque fancier than the horns...:notsure: good looking work though.

My big Black Friday deal was to order a nice slab for a live edge Walnut dining room table. My Walnut live edge river table for the living room came out great. I just need to make the legs. I spent the last week filling out voids and cracks, sanding out drips to make it perfect. It looks better than these old pictures.

That gives you an idea on what I plan for the dining room table. This will be much larger without the center river. I will just use clear resin to fill the voids.

This is the two butterfly slabs I ordered.

    Together 48 - 56" wide, 2 1/2" thick and 128" long. I will cut off about 48" for a second table.

I scored this pine table from one of my clients a while back. I live in an apartment and I don't have any electricity in my garage so I did all the sanding and finishing entirely by hand.
I used a two inch scraper then hand sanded the rest of it. I used stripper and scotch bright on the detail on the legs (woulda been much easier with a heat gun but no power).
The apron and legs are stained then finished with a hard wax. The top is stained, two coats of oil poly, final coat water based poly (satin).
I've been sanding hardwood floors for nearly 30 years, and 20 years ago we used to hand distress flooring on benches then install and finish on site.
Since I didn't use any electricity on this project I like to tell people that I did this Mexican-Amish style :D

I hear you! That's why I always make a few samples before I stain the floor. Duraseal is all we use. I have had good luck with the classic grey or a mix of it with one of the other grey stains on red oak. I will see if I can find some pictures.

This might be one of the funnier things i've seen in a while. @TK-422 made this picture from my most recent wood work design.
