I have only had fixed cats - or we fixed them once we got them - and only the girls have ever marked inside the house. Granted, both girls that did mark were adult strays when we got them, so I give them some latitude for a hard life. Ginger has accidents from time to time because she has lots of urinary tract issues, but it's neither marking nor her fault. None of our boys have ever marked inside, and on average the boys and girls are all affectionate. The girls seem less likely to get along with each other, but bond tightly to their chosen boy(s). The guys just want to be friends with everyone, but may try inappropriate wrestling moves on occasion that results in an ass kicking and a #metoo complaint. They also insist on being the dominant cat, which can also cause fights. In summary, they are very much like people.

After 30 minutes of running around with the big cat, someone is exhausted. Climbed up on my chest and passed out.

Haha the “metoo” is spot on. Amos is still trying to find his place here and he’s been know for inappropriate neck biting and subsequently getting his ass kicked. No doubt Suki is the #1 princess waiting the take over her mamas throne. Louisa is less than 1/2 of Amos weight and she tolerates him a bit more than Suki. If he pushes it too far (no means no) she’ll kick his ass too.
I will say when he’s calm he’s every bit as lovable, if not more, than even Suki.
You said it perfectly though but just didn’t complete the sentence “...just like people- some being amazingly awesome and some being total f-ing assholes”. Luckily we have had very few of the latter.

As long as the males were fixed and socialized as kittens there normally isn't a problem. I think all the other stories you hear are cat-specific and not gender specific.

Cases in point - my grandfather had a male named Bolivar Shagnasty (after the Red Skelton character) who was affectionate, fun, and not destructive (unless you tried to bathe him, in which case your will better be in order). Great example of a cat who acted like a dog. On the flip side is my neighbor's cat Augie (the Aggie). She adopted a formerly feral male and he ignores anyone who isn't her or her oldest son. Hates her youngest and bites him in his sleep when he visits. Generally, he's a cat asshole.

Grandpa also had a female who had to be put down because she was a vicious biter, and attacked a home-care nurse (badly). Could not socialize with other cats, dogs, people, or houseplants. We think there was something wrong upstairs with that cat, because she was a ball of hate.

Whenever we've adopted a pet, we consider the animal and not their gender. It's merely worked out that they were females, but that wasn't our intention. Gender doesn't matter nearly as much as behavior, temperament, and intelligence. Ultimately, they're going to be an "it" anyway.

Our late female, Smokie, was a pisser. She ruined 3 couches and 2 chairs. Her sisters tormented her daily. We think they secretly told her that she was adopted. We loved her no matter what for 15 years. We would cover the new couch with plastic every night before bed.
She even peed on company's suitcases to send a message that time was up.

Well, this little girl was deemed healthy enough to get her final shots. Gonna keep her on the ClinDrops for another week to help promote the continued healing of her nasal and sinus membranes which were wrecked by the infection.

Vet was very pleased with her turn around over the last couple of months.

You know I have had awesome boys and girls. The girls tend to be smaller but that’s about it.
I have also had one PITA that was a girl and one that was a boy.
I really think it just depends on the kitty.

Wow! What a great job you’ve done. Thanks!
