The range on our trucks with the little 21 gallon tank is just silly!

    It's actually laughable really.

Sort of an insult in a way.

Take into account aftermarket parts adding weight and still silly?

I'm good for well over 300 miles

So what you’re really saying is it’s my own fault. I accept that.

Lol, if we had a 26gal tank and we added on mpg killers, we would still complain no?
I'm unhappy with 17ish highway mpg when I used to see 21.
I fault myself, but enjoy better mpg than if I were to throw on say 35" 10 plies I guess

I get about the same 230ish in town and can sometimes do over 300 on the freeway depending on conditions. I only have 200lbs of extra weight but the 2" lift and 32" all terrains dont help the mpg's any.

I think I am exactly where you are in virtually all of those aspects. Maybe 200lbs of armor 2.5" lift and 32's..

We should had bought a GM. That brand as a whole gets phenomenal fuel economy no matter what. (I'm not kidding)

What you save in fuel though goes towards the cost of repairs later on though since they are built like such shit, so I guess it balances out.

I’m not complaining about MPG. I get about 12 city 15 highway, which seems appropriate vs stock for the junk I carry around daily.

A little extra range would be nice on longer journeys, though. My new tank will be 34 gallons vs 21 which should get me 400 miles plus per fill up.

Sweet, those look like a very solid unit. Much better upgrade over the stock plastic one. I too would like more range for when i take road trips. Havent had to yet, but the idea of stopping every couple hundred miles for fuel doesnt sound too appealing

So... I think I’m running a little rich. Mpg 13-14 on highway. Tailpipe has gotten darker and I get my rear panel above muffler pretty dirty regularly. Never had to add extra oil in between changes. Except for BD tuned SC and snorkel I’m all stock exhaust/fuel pump wise. I do have quite a bit of armor (arb bumper/winch/steel skid), 2” lift, 33” tires, dynomat cabin and a bed slide. Just did my spark plugs after 20k on the blower and found them pretty dirty (black soot, not oily). I don’t have an AFR gauge by the way.

Reading all the stuff about the bully dog has me paranoid. No hesitation or weir vibes. No engine errores per obdii scanned.

Any of you guys find any of these symptoms/mpg odd?

Dude it sucks. For a company that promotes the great outdoors and living freely (Toyota) they sure screwed the pooch by not allowing us more range out of these trucks. Running out of a fuel is a real thing too. I can't tell you how many times I have almost run out of fuel while either lost in the woods, or just far away from a public road and even further from a gas station. It gives me total anxiety man.

I couldnt agree more! The fact that we also need premium makes it worse. What do we do if were in the boonies and the only place that has fuel doesnt have premium? Talk about being up shit creek.. really makes me glad my truck is a pavement pounder haha.. if i were you, id upgrade now!
