WDH absolutely for towing on smooth, level, graded roads. The thing I don't like is a WDH is no good offroad - through gullies, off-camber, truck is at one angle and the trailer at another.

I've found that a rise hitch, just a straight hitch with a good rise to it, stronger rear springs and airbags is the most versatile setup.

For every application there's a best choice, I think the discussion is important to help pass on what the choices are and where the benefits and compromises lie. Leveling with springs or air bag might be the best choice in certain cicumstances but the compromise is less weight on the steering wheels so you'd need to drive with that in mind. Other choices > other considerations. The number one overall decision has to be drive as if lives depended on getting their safely because they do.

BTW, the travel trailers I pulled were 19' - 21', 2700lb - 3400lb dry. Decently offroadable through desert washouts and gullies. I considered keeping the Equalizer (same as in the video above, WDH with sway control bars), and also adding stronger rear springs and airbags. Equalizer for getting to the dirt, then swap it out for a rise hitch, air up.

That's maybe best way to go.

5 psi is the minimum so that is where I began measuring from. With 10 psi more air added, I got 1" lift, etc:

I did this test not too long ago:

So here are hub to wheel well distances:

    Left (driver's) side:
    5 psi = 21.5"
    15 psi = 22.5"
    20 psi = 22.75"
    25 psi = 23"
    35 psi = 23.5"
    40 psi = 23.5"
At 5, 15, and 20 psi, the right side was .25" taller but the same at 25-40 psi.

No matter where you measure from, the Ride Rites provide up to 2" of bed lift between 5 psi (min) and 35 psi.

I just received my Ride rite kit, i will be installing with Day star cradles tomorrow. I was going to go with new HD Spring packs but i tow often and want the ability to adjust my ride height without adding/pulling leaves from the pack. I will have about 300 lbs between bumper and ARE shell/cargo. Plus the welding trailer i haul regularly is pretty tongue heavy. Hope i made the right choice.

Anyone use Ride Rite (or AirLift, etc.) to correct Taco Lean? Mine's about 1/2 inch lower on the driver's side, annoying. 2018 DCLB Sport.Toyota just says suck it up. If you have kept one side of the air bag filled more than the other, how does it ride with normal loading?

I plan on installing my kit tomorrow, I’ll post back with the results. I do plan to add a controller so I can adjust each bag individually. Using the kit below:

Looks like too much tongue weight.

Thanks for the repost, David K. Very helpful. Have you run one side with more pressure w/o a load (to correct TacoLean)? How does it ride. Happy Thanksgiving!

Yes, I run the driver side (left here in N. America) with a bit more air than the right.
I never have noticed a lean issue, however. I am easy... as long as I am driving a Toyota, I am good!

Install done, wasn’t too bad but too some trial and error on my behalf... pics below, 1st pic is no air, 2nd is with 30 psi.

    Yeah.
Did some experimenting and measuring over the holiday to see if I could use the air bags for leveling. I had to go above 15 psi to get the driver side to even start raising any (no load in the bed). So to level it, I would likely have to go 20 psi on the driver side and 5 on the passenger. IMHO, that is way off balance as far as spring rate and I wasn't willing to drive it like that. I'm fine with the 1/2" difference.

@Hstone556 30 psi is a LOT of air. That's good for a 1000 pound load!

Well I haven’t had anything nice to say about the kit since installing it so I havent posted an update.... but Drivers side bag is leaking, 0 miles. Saw this after it sat for the night. Waiting for a reply from Firestone.
