    Just thought I'd throw this out there to you guys but there is product that needs to be in everyone's truck who offroads. @itaro had a bit of a scare when he completely lost his brakes out in Death Valley with his whole family in the truck...thankfully we were on a somewhat flat ground and he was quick enough to use his emergency/parking brake to help him come to a stop otherwise my truck would have had to stop him since it was parked when he came rolling up. Turns out his front right brake line broke at the caliper.

    The piece on the right broke right at the threaded nut...as a trail repair I put a flare using a punch and needle nose put it back on bled the brake and he slowly made it down a hill to an area where we could camp for the night.

    In the meantime I drove to Ridgecrest (180 mile round trip) and got this product below plus some more brake fluid. They are the same thing one is just longer than the other as I wasn't really sure how long it needed to be. We decided to make this trip to Ridgecrest because a trail repair on a brake system component is nothing you would want to drive around on for an extended period of time especially since this was day 1 of our trip and another failure could be deadly considering some of the hills we went down.

    Here is the new line installed after I bent it by hand to match the OEM line. The tubing is just plain magic....its almost impossible to kink and the bends were done entirely by hand. I'd suggest everyone grab a couple and throw them in your toolbox, glovebox or anywhere in your truck because at 5 bucks a piece it'll will save you or any of your trail buddies a trip to the auto parts store from the middle of nowhere especially at today's gas prices an extra 180 miles sucks.

    Now the moral of the story......There are reasons the manufacturer puts brackets on things....in the above picture the bracket wired to the spindle was not attached to anything before the break happened...it was just hanging there which over time and bouncing around let the brake line shear at the fitting into the caliper. But it was one of those i'll get back to this later things that was never taken care of and it could have turned out deadly had it broken when we were coming down the backside of Cerro Gordo.

    @itaro got really lucky because I just had to stop to get this picture of Panamint Valley otherwise we would have just kept going down some more very steep hills in the Hunter Mountain area.
