Just get a 285 tire and do the CMC and trimming all when you install the lift kit

I actually want 255/85/16

 

I dunno man. It's totally personal preference but those may look a little different on a spindle lift.

 

The 255/85 is slightly taller then 285/75

I was figuring there would be less chomping if the tire was skinny isn't that the reason tires rub is because the width

 

Yes, i.e. scrub radius is wider.

 

Just go bigger tires and I can do the CMC, no worries. What size wheel you have? I think there is a minimum back space requirement with the maxtrac
