You probably need to adjust the sensitivity of the radar. I have a '19 SR and you adjust the sensitivity with the buttons on the steering wheel.

Who do you trust is what it comes down to when needing information.
For example, there are people I trust who post on TacomaWorld. Not many, but a few. And, as just shown above, some just talk out their ass and are quickly proven wrong.

I can’t wait till the self driven Tacoma
    comes out.

Maybe everyone can test the GD boxes.

This statement is a fallacy. How can you possibly know what "most car people" think? What is a "car person"? If you think TW is a joke, then you sir are a joke because you ARE TW (until you stop perusing its halls and posting)

I agree with this statement. It could have been a legitimate discussion about what does and doesn't set off TSS auto braking, but then some self important wet blanket took it upon themselves to go way off topic and talk about how joking around in a thread destroys forums.

Have you REALLY? I mean maybe you have, but it sounds made up. Which ones? Concrete examples help support what otherwise sounds like BS.

Nope. Doesn't happen. TW remains a great place to get information because of all the activity. Show me a more active forum on the internet. Part of the reason so many of us hang around is that there seems to be a great balance of legitimate discussion and silliness.

    Exactly.

Shit original post with little detail and no followup. I can verify that the alarm helped save my bacon twice so far.
No. That is for the adaptive cruise control. You are not adjusting the radar's sensitivity. You are adjusting the following distance to the vehicle in front of you.

So OP, my question is this. Did you floor it and accelerate through the boxes? Just wonder if somehow the TSS system sensed that you were aware of the boxes.

NO, you can adjust the Pre-Collision warning, nothing to do with Cruise Control, that is a separate setting.

Buying a vehicle with TSS and relying on it to work is like flying a plane and relying auto pilot to work. It's a mechanical system and things happen. Best thing to do is put your phone down and pay attention to what is going on. just my .02

Maybe I am reading it wrong?

    "the brakes are automatically
applied to help avoid the collision or help reduce the
    impact of the collision."

Radar in OP is doing as it should. Does not see a solid object. Might as well be rain.

It has saved my bacon twice. Both times distracted. Both times brakes were being applied by the truck before my slow ass slammed the brakes down as hard as I could. Cleaned my britches way after.

Owning a Subaru with the eyesight system, I think you may be correct. The Subaru uses 2 stereo-optic cameras mounted up near the rear view mirror high up on the windshield. The Toyota system uses one camera up there and the radar in the grill to hopefully accomplish the same results. Over the last 3 years I have seen numerous accounts of Subaru owners doing the same thing as you did, and their cars all came to a quick stop. Actually a Subaru dealer in Oklahoma would demo the system to unbelieving customers much the same way you did.
If this is indeed the case, what if those boxes were there by accident and contained something heavier/denser than air. I would ask Toyota this exact question, as it still should have seen those boxes -empty or not
