The "gimmicks" you describe can/should save YOUR life in a moment of distracted driving -should you have one!

Also, manual might be vague about complete stop not just for legal reasons. No mention of accelerator defeat. Braking system won't overcome operator who continues to have his right foot down on the accelerator.

I would think it may have slowed the driver down enough to maybe have saved the lives of the children. Judging from the damage pictures of the front of the Tacoma, she was moving along rather fast?
I wonder if the truck's computer held a record of her speed at the time of the tragedy/crash?
And BTW it WAS NOT an "accident", There was a cause!

Cliffs notes: OP drove his truck into some boxes and TSS didnt stop him. TW flames him. Then TW comes back and starts trying to help.

I read mine online a couple times before I bought my 2016. When I got my 2019 I had to look more things up though that were not covered back in 2015.

It states in the manual TSS will only operate if there is no driver input. Once the driver has input TSS backs off. So him holding throttle is why it didn’t work

Seems odd. No change in throttle would seem to indicate the driver isn’t paying attention and intervention is necessary.

I wanna say the vehicle has to be traveling 35 mph. Not sure why but that seems to be in my head for whatever reason.
While driving the wife’s RAV4 I had foot on the gas and the car in front of me slammed on brakes to turn. Before I could react it beeped and hollered and hit the brakes. The programming should be the same so if the OP is hitting the gas it shouldn’t matter.

PS- I’m still waiting for the blowjobs and boxes video.

It’s only programmed to assist and heavily relies on driver input

Well I guess we need a small lesson on how radar works.. the sensor sends out a pulse to detect items like cars and then sends that signal back to the truck. If the signal doesn’t bounce back at the truck and get recieved then you get no auto braking or warning. It works I promise you it does. It’s stopped me twice when jackasses cut me off in heavy traffic
