Why do that? Home Depot sells the Dewalt for $24 bucks and you can get same one on Amazon for $18 bucks and end up with something worthwhile to keep in the tool box.

 

I purchased the Harbour Freight Long Handled Pop Rivet Tool to do the job and it is definitely worth the $19.99 that I paid for it. I also had on hand a good quality Matco pop rivet tool. I figured what the hell let me at least try the Matco one first to see if it would do the job and it did. I also used the Harbour Freight tool for a comparison. Both tools worked. The long handled HF tool did provide much more leverage but because of its length was a little awkward for this application especially when using it to attach the fender mount. If you can find someone that has a decent PRT borrow it and save yourself $20.
I'll be keeping the HF tool because I have future plans for it and the added leverage will save some wear and tear on my hands. It's worth the price and is definitely worth adding to my assortment of tools.

 

I also used the long handled HB tool and didn't really have a problem with it being awkward. I think I paid around $15 (taking advantage of sale/coupons).

It's a shame the postage would be so high, or we could just circulate one of these tools for anyone doing this mod at any given time.

I did look at one of those and was not sure that it would have the room for the fender part and past experience with HF tools along with the local store resisting returns when something breaks pointed me in another direction.

 

You definitely have to be careful when buying items from HF. A lot of what they sell is not of the same quality as some of the reputable name brands that they mimic. If the long handled rivet tool was for professional vs hobbyist use then I would definitely opt to pay more for the name brand tool. That said, for $20 and limited use this tool will do the job.
They also sell a long handled Rivet Nut Tool for $19.99 complete with std and metric mandrels for installing rivet nuts and it too is well worth the price. I've used mine numerous times and it performs flawlessly. Amazon sells similar tools for considerably more money and all if not most of the same design are of Chinese manufacture. This is a very handy tool to have on hand for places where it's virtually impossible to use a nut like in your trucks bed.

I'm not sure what version, got it done last friday 16th November. I remember that it said something about problems with wide open throttle at high altitude. Also drove up to Atlanta from Florida .

Did the Redline hood shocks, K&N air filter today & the Taco dash inserts 2 weeks ago.
Don't waste your time with a cheap rivet tool, these Redline rivets are stupid strong & won't pop easily.
Your advice was on the money guys .

 

Finally finished it with some Hankook Dynapro mt 285/75 16 on OEM rims, 1.25 spacers and a cab mount massage.
