Do you have any pics so I can see how well the 5k matches the DRL?

For me, I experienced bouncing in my 4300's from day one; therefore, the switch to 5000's eliminated my frustrations. But your point above is a valid one.

I have noticed slight variance in output, but it's hard to quantify with any data (I guess it's nothing more than anecdotal). I'm satisfied with the output of the 5000's. I have also noticed that the 5000's have a bit longer warm-up time than the 4300's.

I would say barely less output, Doc's Rig assessment on them is spot on.

I tried to take some pics, but my phone just can't pic up the difference that well, but yes the 5k matches the DRL pretty well. I put a Philips 4300k into the drivers side headlight trying to show the difference between it and the 5000k. I also wanted to see if it makes that much of difference while driving at night compared to the 5000k one in the passenger side. The 4300k is just a tad bit brighter.

Try telling that to @XenonDepot. They swear it's "normal" and "it's the Tacoma headlamp". That's what they'll tell you when you call them up. LOL.

I'll take a video of the Philips bounce and after with the 5000K.

@XenonDepot will you credit me the upcharge for tthe Phillips and the new 5000K bulbs if these make the bounce magically go away?

It'd be interesting to see how many customers purchased the phillips 4300k bulbs with their kit, and of the total number, how many report the 'bounce.'

Regardless of a few complaints, I'm rolling the dice and installing them. I'll report back afterwards and hope I'm not eating my words!

My kit arrived this afternoon and I got everything plugged up.. awaiting darkness for a test drive before offering feedback on light output and if there is any 'bounce' from the Phillips 4300ks.

Question.. the bulbs came in a plastic housing with a red o ring and a black spacer. My hunch is the spacer was only meant for shipping protection, correct?

After test driving around in the dark for a half hour or so, I've got zero complaints with the Phillips 4300ks or the HID setup in general. The amount of light thrown forward is amazing compared to stock is fantastic, and I'm happy with my purchase! So far there is zero 'bounce' and everything appears rock solid.

The only thing I did notice, and frankly, I don't know if it was the same before the kit was installed (maybe someone with stock bulbs can verify?) when ignition is in accessory, the light mode for DRLs only does not function. When the truck is turned on, the first click for DRLs only illuminates as expected.

@XenonDepot do you find this to be a small occurrence in the HID kits that you sell? Reading backwards through this thread it appears that it’s mainly a handful of people with an issue.

If I buy a set and find I have the issue as well would I be able to exchange or return the product?

Has anyone with the flicker issue tried a different 4300k bulb from a different vendor and still experience the same issue?

The issue is isolated with the Tacoma for sure as we haven't had this issue on any other vehicle regardless of which HID bulbs they may be using.

If for whatever reason you also experience this issue then we can work with you on a solution to fix the issue but once you install a product then we can't take it back as we don't sell used products.

I got mine installed earlier this week and finally got to use them at night last night. Amazing difference! Night and day, no pun intended. Being able to have low and high at the same time is pretty fantastic as well. I didnt even know about this perk when I installed them.

I do have the flutter though, but only when I hit a bump. Going down the interstate or a smooth road, there is no issue. Hit a bump or gutter, and they do bounce. Its not a sustained thing by any means. Seemed like one quick bounce and then they are stable.
