I've been thinking about doing this to. Did you get the reservoir locally, or online. If online, any chance you have a link?

    I have mods
Drove out to my daughter's house in Oceanside, CA for Thanksgiving weekend, here until Sunday. She now wants to sell her 2013 PreRunner and get a 1st gen like mine, so we have been looking around for what she can get for hers and potential 1st gens. Just put new tires on her truck today, as well as had oil and filter done and front end alignment. Thinking we might ask $18k for her truck, it's a 2013 PreRunner, TRD Sport package, auto with 107k miles in really good condition. It's the red one in the center. The other white one is her boyfriend's 2015 base 4 door 2wd with the 6 speed manual.

What are you thinking about replacing it with? Or are/have you already?

I'm not a 100% sure might go for a 2015 second gen, a CPO 3rd gen or a new 3rd gen. What ever it is it will be a double cab 4WD, TRD off road with a short box and an automatic

Sounds perfect, except for the short bed part. The third gen look has definitely grown on me while the second gen look is still just kinda okay to me for some reason. I vote go third gen :D

I posted it intentionally, stirring the pot. Both beds definitely have their pros, and it's mostly opinion anyways. I'm cool with people liking whichever bed.

definitely. I've found the short bed to be easier to pack and unpack and use for adventures.

Long bed has its place though.

I like the short beds, I get that long beds make more sense if you need the space but short beds look better on Tacomas IMO. Especially on 3rd gens if you go that route...even though my vote would be for a 2015 2nd gen. Tried and true and without all the issues the auto trans 3rd gens have

Oh damn I haven't been keeping up with any of the other Gens. Didn't know that about the 3rd gen tranny issues. That sucks.

Yah there's threads about it daily in their forum. Odd shifting patterns, delayed throttle response, low fluid from factory, crappy tune in general...I'll always own a manual trans as long as possible but I would defintely go manual on a 3rd gen. Toyota's issued at least 2 TSBs on the auto that I'm aware of since 2016 to address all the complaints.

There's always the OVTune that's supposed to help but thats another $800 or so

Wonder what the root of it will be? Tune issue?

I think it's just the way they tuned it for emissions/fuel economy. Crappy low end torque but if you floor it, it'll scoot...once the throttle decides to respond and the auto trans makes its mind up on a gear

I drove a 2019 for two days and the truck did nothing but put a smile on my face. I like my first gen, but don't care for shifting gears anymore.

When this deal is finalized I will make my way to the dealer and see about ordering a 2019 OR DCSB 4WD in Calvary Blue maybe explore other options CPO etc. It's going to be a Tacoma what ever it is. The only hurdle with my local dealer is they seem to have no shortage of Sports and slim on Off Roads.
