Today I test drove a 2018 dcsb or with tech package. The premium is hard to find so I’m guessing I can probably find the tech package at a better deal. Without haggling dealers are saying they want close to msrp for premium while I think I could get the tech package at or below invoice.
Just curious what others thought that were in a similar situation?
The main differences are moonroof, leather, heated seats, dual zone, and jbl audio correct?
Same navigation or is it different? Haven’t researched the entune too much
I may see what cartelligent can get me the premium for.

Planning to do heavy mods on it?

I bought my OR w/ just tow package and I payed a bit over MSRP ($600 to be exact, I got it in January though when they just got on the lot in my area). Asking price for my area was $42k, which people were paying full price and the sport was only selling for MSRP since not many wanted em here.

Got a little over 2k under msrp for tech+prem but it is an access cab so no moon roof or leather which I didn't want anyways.

    Probably no mods for awhile.
Without haggling dealer offered 500 over invoice for tech package. Think I could’ve got it lower tho

I have a 2017, Premium and Tech were 1 Package instead of 2 different, I think the addition of Leather for 2018 is the only difference. The Heated Seats feel awesome when its cold out and the Sunroof is nice to kick open when the weather is nice.

As much I detest the lack of headroom due to the sunroof, it is nice in good weather or night drives. The dual climate is nice when my wife is in the truck with me. And of course, the heated seats as well.

Having said that, they're not a deal-breaker for me. I could live without Premium AND tech.

I dont care for the sensors or sunroof but I wouldve like the butt warmers and the leather seats. Then again i bought the last 17 OR they had on the lot and i paid 32k so nottoo hurt over it.

Thinking I’m going with tech package. It’s going to cost me a few grand for premium since dealerships won’t haggle much on that but will on the tech

FWIW, I just turned 300 miles this morning on my '18 super white ORDCLB w/ tech and premium. Built about a week ago. I ordered and waited two agonizing months, it was well worth the wait! I love all the premium goodies, I'm an audiophile and am impressed by the JBL. My days of hacking in a high-end stereo system are over. I can't find a flaw with the truck, very very happy.

I ordered my DB TRD OF with the premium package. Main features I was looking for was the heated seats and dual climate control. My wife smokes me on road trips bc she likes it warm. This way she can crank the heat and buttwarmer while I have the A/C on.

But realize as I get older the more I like my amenities and the moonroof will be nice.

I regret not getting the tech package. I declined it because I hate sun roofs. It only took a month to miss better audio, leather and heated seats. I wanted the sport and could not find a tech package minus sun roof...

I have tech and premium and do not regret it one bit. Love my heated seats, color matched bumpers, collision avoidance, sunroof... all of it.

I think the premium is worth it. The JBL audio is pretty good for a factory system and the other additions make it worth it. Opening the sunroof and then the rear power window gets a nice, low noise breeze going thru the car on nice days.

Another option is to figure out the items out of a package that you really want.

Then evaluate what it would cost to add them to a lower cost model with aftermarket bits.

For example, better sound and nav are easy to find. Goot leather and seat heaters are easy to find and add.

Sunroof, dual zone AC float your boat? Better go OE.

It was definitely worth it to me.

The audio is very good for an OEM system. No it's not a $5K+ audio system but it will do. I don't think I'd buy another truck without heated seats and auto-climate control. I do wish I had leather, but I guess I could add aftermarket covers.

Those of you with JBL in both the 2nd and 3rd gen, is the JBL sound quality as good?

I ask because we got the JBL in my wife's Rav4. It's not good. Read the greenedge they put in it uses less fuel or something like that, I could be wrong. I assume it's because it doesn't have a big enough amp.

I'm more than pleased with how the 2nd gen JBL works and would be fine if it's the same. I can't test it out before my truck is delivered because there are zero premium packages in my market.

I do not have the premium & tech package in my Sport and never really thought much about it. My cousin got a 2017 Sport DCSB AT with the package and there are some nice/fancy accessories (heated seats, moonroof, JBL, climate control (what I can think of off the top of my head). The only one I really care about is the JBL stereo - MUCH better sounding than mine. Overall, worth a few grand, not in my book, but I am going to replace the tweeters, which will help and are only about 50 bucks.

I don't have the Premium package and will say that I miss having heated seats and dual climate control that I had in my SUV prior. Leather is always nice as well.

Sunroof isn't missed. I always think I would use them more than I did. I open the rear window almost daily, which I never did with the sunroof.

The audio doesn't matter to me, although I am sure it is better than what I have.

I found an 18 OR DC 4x4 in silver with both premium and Tech packages. It was a dealer demo and has 4K on it. I went on Toyota website and was unable to build an 18 in this color w both packages, couldn’t build it as a 19 either. Dealer said sometimes they get demo models in any and all configurations. I got a great price on it and pick it up next week. Super psyched! Trading in 16 DC OR 4x4 w/24k on it only because I want leather heated seats and I want the added safety features.

For me, it was worth it. Heated leather, and sun roof are nice additions. Dual climate and the JBL is nice.
