    Hey guys,
I did a quick search but haven't found anyone with a satoshied hood. Does anyone have a satoshied hood? I was thinking about doing mine but don't even know where to start.

You'd have to remove the insert and then start trying to figure out how you wanted the mesh to look and what not.

It would be interesting I'm sure....Good luck!!

Wouldn't this kind of tie in with the "Ram air" threads for the scoop?

To the OP, If you try it you'll be the first that I know of that has tried it. Remember make SURE you know what you are doing. You are going to need some or alot of water-proofing.

My consern is not so much the water proofing, but rather how I'm going to hold the mesh in there. I was looking at my hood yesterday and man it's fing tight, no room for anything that I Might be able to use to tie the mesh onto.

The trim around the scoop is plastic..... You could epoxy it on. Doesnt Toyota have it "riveted" on right now?

Just cut out the plastic behind the mesh that is already there.

    Build thread in sig...
it's very easy to take appart. the mesh is indeed riveted in, but it's very easy to drill them out and either rivet back in the new mesh or just use small nuts/bolts. start by opening the hood and taking off the silver nuts the hold the whole scoop assembly to the hood (i think there are 3). once they are undone you should be able to take the entire assembly out of the hood. once out, it's very easy to see how the rest comes appart.

as for the new mesh, you should be able to just cut the shape you want out of the mesh and epoxy it in, in place of the factory mesh.

Gotcha... See, I matched my satosi to the pattern of mesh in the scoop so I didn't have to mess with it :) But I did cut out the plastic.

Haha that works too. Its a dang good match too. Customcargrilles has good stuff.

You cut out the "shield" behind the mesh on the hood scoop?

I picked up my mesh at a local HVAC company that had extra stuff laying around. Apparently they use the stuff to keep critters out of the HVAC vents.... just happened to match perfectly.

Yea, I cut out the plastic behind the mesh back in the day - thinking that it'd help somehow. I didn't notice any performance gains - so it's just aesthetic.

Humm. How about that.. I bet that small of a piece they just gave it to you haha.

    Was it already black?

And sorry to say it, but nope the hood scoop was designed so that there would be no drag... Its a dead zone.

Yea, I figured out that it was deadspace already. Did that like 2.5 years ago.

No I paid 20 bucks to the guy... He only wanted 10, but he cut it for me too - and it was silver. I had to sand it, prime it, paint it.
