Sounds like we’ll have a big turn out. We might need a port-a-potty for the porting party!

I live in Florida but it really doesn’t matter how far I live since I retired from the Navy 24 years ago and from my second career last year. My schedule is almost totally flexible unless my wife of 43 years has a trip planned. We just got home from a cruise and last summer got to complete a bucket list item of seeing all 50 states from the ground. I had already seen all of them from the air many years ago but that didn’t count. I look forward to seeing a master at his work.

Count another one in!! ....Hey Tom, I see you have a wilwood big brake kit. How do you like it? Did you look into stop-tech’s bbk kit too or just go straight to wilwood? Also is yours a 4 or 6 piston kit?

Wow that's awesome Tom! Thanks for the complement!
The 50 state tour must have been a helluva trip!
Just finishing up my 24 year Air Force career (on terminal leave now).

    • 1I just got my muffler and resonator. Now I just need; Insane Y-Pipe...,URD Spec U LT headers, SS head studs, SS flex pipe, SS cat, 3 SS hangers, 3 hanger isolators, and a custom tail pipe. I wonder who could design that? Once all these ultra high-tech components are here, I will have to match down to IndyPowder coating. Everything gets Ceramic coated to achieve lifetime durability and thermo mastering. Heat will never be an issue, yet I am going to follow Roostfactor, and heat mat my underbody respectively. I am going to have an exhaust setup that is never to be worried about. Thank you all for the journey!

The Wilwood BBK is a 6 piston kit that saved 26 pounds of unsprung weight because of its forged aluminum parts. I am extremely happy with it as it is one of my favorite mods of the 17 I have done. Originally, I was planning on going with the Stoptech kit but could not find the kit I wanted with the forged aluminum parts. Even Gadget at URD tried to find what I was looking for and was not able. Then a thread was started on TW last year after SEMA about a kit from Wilwood and I got one as soon as they were released to the public. The following link is to my write up of the installation.

    post 105

The Wilwood brakes new in the box weighed 47 pounds while the stock brake parts weighed 73 pounds in the same box for a savings of at least 26 pounds.

Sorry for the minor thread jack on my previous post.

I did not go to all 50 states at one time. I only had 6 states to see but 2 of my daughters took off from work to go with my wife and I so it ended up being 12 states. My oldest daughter has also been to 53 countries while my youngest daughter has been to 44 countries. They put me to shame since I have only been to 25 countries.

I have been following you ever since you started modifying your own y pipe and have seen your amazing progress. Being a pilot, I can really appreciate your attention to detail and desire to do your very best 100% of the time. If only more Americans had your same work ethic our country would be a much better place although, it is still the greatest nation on Earth. Keep up your great work.

They actually cost several hundred less than the Stoptechs that Steve bought for his third gen who is the OP on the BBK thread for the third gen. The link I gave on my previous post will take you there. The OEM part numbers for the front brakes are exactly the same for second and third gens. Wilwood primarily markets this kit for second gens. The first link is to the Wilwood site and the second link is for Summit Racing which has the kit for $200 less.

I wonder what the weight difference between the factory rotors vs your new wilwoods ones are? (Excluding the calipers)
That will be the true unsprung weight savings. They look bomb!

You are correct and unfortunately I did not get the individual savings since some of the weight savings come from the forged aluminum calipers. I sold the OEM brake parts the week after installing the Wilwoods and never had a chance. It was awkward enough going to the grocery store and weighing a box full of brake parts in front of all those shoppers. LOL

Interested to hear how the MBRP system will sound.

Can you post a couple pics looking into the muffler and resonator?
