I had a similar issue for a couple years. Thought it was belts, then idler pulley. Mine would only happen during cold weather after startup or any extended drive 2+ hours. Same thing mainly while coasting or around 2100 rpm but would go away if you gave it some more gas. Greased all the zerks on my driveshaft and haven't heard it since.

You think that could be it ? Ok I will give that a shot tomorrow morning. Really frustrating noise. I’ve read some post on here and am not the only one with this problem. I really appreciate your time and thank you.

Well, bring your grease gun, while you are under there you will be able to tell if you sheared on or not. Sounds like a plan.

Had this exact problem, took the driveshaft off and cleaned up and greased the spline and never heard it again. This was after greasing the ujoint zerks and the problem persisted

If it happens while coasting but not while accelerating, it is probably the drive shaft carrier bearing.

If the u-joint is making a "noise",,, squeak, or whatever,, it's to late, their dry and scarred, replace them.

This could be the source of my squeak as well. I thought it was belts but noticed it was coming from under the truck and not the engine bay. I will have this checked out.
