New Taillights From TacomaBeast?

Does anyone have these? They're very cheap and look just as good as the Winjet ones. Wondering if anyone has run these yet.

Don't know anything about them, but they're different than the Winjets. I liked the Winjets (looks) These look like a cheap Chinese copy of a Winjet. lol

 

Considering all of the blown fuses and the almost universal condensation buildup in the Winjets they might be higher quality...

 

I’m confused on the price. They list one overall price and have an offer of four payments using the price which quadruples it.

 

I really liked the Winjet looks, but holy hell the quality control of those things. I personally wouldn't want a set of these if they were given to me, but I wholeheartedly agree quality can't be worse. Or could it??

 

The manufacturer is AKKON, at least that’s what is embossed on the tail lights, but are drop shipped by Spyder in California. I ordered this from Tacomabeast on September 13 and just received them on Friday. The lights look really nice, but unfortunately they don’t function properly. The running lights work, the brakes work, the turn signals hyper-flash even with the resistors that came with lights installed, and the worst part is, when applying the brakes, there are no turn signals, they simply don’t work. It is plug and play, so they’re no way to figure out what is wrong. I probably could’ve dealt with the hyper-flash, by installing another set, but no turn signals with brakes applied?? I’ve already sent a message to Tacomabeast, so I’ll update when I get a resolution. Here’s a pic of the left tail light with parking light on before I removed it. It does look nice and of high quality, just wished it had worked properly.

Yes, Tacomabeast had me call Spyder first to describe what the issue is, to see if they can diagnose first, then Spyder said it’s plug and play, no solution, and just let Tacomabeast know that you need to return. Here’s the fun part. I contacted Tacomabeast and told them what Spyder told me and they said OK, to get a RMA from the Spyder, they need me to take pictures or a video showing what doesn’t work right. Interesting, because the person from Spyder didn’t mention that, So I had to reinstall the left tail light only and took a video showing that the signal did not work with brake lights on. I just returned it this week so I haven’t heard back yet. Are yours doing the same thing that mine did, or didn’t do?

 

I just got replied from TB. Now, I'm in the same situation as yours. I didn't try to fix the tail light myself yet since I'm afraid that will mess up the return policies with TB.

 

I hope the next set works correctly, as I really like the Look of them. If the next set operates incorrectly, I’ll be insisting on a refund. Not going to continue the back and forth game.

 

I bought a set of these as well and had the same hyperflash issues described above, also one of the reverse lights didn't work properly. I sent them back to Spyder after describing the problem, sending video, etc. As of right now I have not heard anything, I would like an exchange for a set that works and if that does not happen definitely a refund. You would think they would test this stuff before going to market but maybe that's asking too much... The lights looked really good on the truck!

 

Well, I guess I shouldn’t be glad to hear of the same issues, but it let’s me know that they obviously are not wired correctly. It says “plug and play” but seems like it’s “plug and hope”, at this point!! Agree, the LED and running light pattern with this set I like more than the set from Winjets that mimic the Ford Raptor style. Keeping my fingers crossed at this point. With this many similar issues, you would think that someone is on top of it to get it resolved!

 

I have these lights on my truck. Zero issues. Sorry to hear that your lights aren’t working fellas!

 

One thing I will say, I had to Dremel a tab on both connectors as it wasn’t allowing the male/female to seat properly. I’ll snap a pick when I get home and can pop housing out.

 

Update: I received another set, installed it, and to my disappointment, it functioned excactly as the first set. Turn signals do not work when brakes are applied. I’ve contacted Tacomabeast requesting an RMA and a full refund. Good luck to others out there that had the same issues.

 

I got my replacement set ant have the exact same issue. I called Spyder directly and they are going to send new resistors. If they are the same I'm guessing they will not fix it and I will demand a refund.

 

Other than the hyper flashing, did your turn signals work while the brakes are applied?

 

I did not try that, never got past the hyper flash.

 

You may want to try that, that way you know if that is the only issue. The first set, I had both issues, but I had a set of 6 ohm resistors laying around which I used to correct the hyperflashing, but did not correct no turns signals with brakes....
