Supporting your DNR. My family up north got 3 deer between 2 of them. Still hunting expecting more. They spent most of this last weekend butchering. Nice to see deer returning to the north woods.

All righty then; I'm as ready as I'll ever be for that snow that is supposed to be coming. After finishing a pot of coffee, went out and split enough wood to keep a fire going all day. By the time I did that (the old fashioned way, with a maul and wedges) and stacked it on the back porch I was plenty warm but I went ahead and got a fire going anyway.

As soon as the fire was going I was ready to sit down with a good book but decided after all that work I deserved a hearty breakfast (or is it brunch?).

And if you're wondering, yes, I did fry both the eggs and hash browns in the bacon grease. Heart attack at 11.

I should probably go for a three mile run to burn off some of those calories. Oh, too bad, it's started to rain; guess I'll take a nap with the cat instead.

Disclaimer: While I do go for 30 or 40 minute walks several times a week just to keep the joints lubricated, it would be a toss-up which exploded first, my knees or my heart, if I tried running very far.

    And so it begins...

The latest forecast calls for only about an inch here. Looking at the radar I would be surprised if we get more than a dusting.

Still feels good to warm my bones beside the fire.

I donated $150 to the State of South Dakota this year also. Didn't think I would be able to go but there was a chance and had to get it months ago. And will be giving them another $150 soon also. I know the feeling well.

Love Tom Clancy books. Many years ago was at the Exchange in Little Creek Amphibian Base and headed upstairs to the uniform shop to pickup some things for an inspection coming up. Tom was sitting at a table signing books no one was in line, it was right before lunch. And it was long enough ago he was chain smoking and his ashtry was already close to overflowing. I said hi to him as I walked by.

After got my stuff for my uniform ran and grabbed one of his books to have him sign it. Went back to the table and the line was out the door it was now lunch time. Ended up just going back to the ship.

Stayed up way too late last night watch Jack Ryan on Amazon Prime. Started with first and ended up watching all 8 of them. Good but different from the original line, especially Vice Admiral James Greer.

Bacon this morning also. Have only used the griddle on the Jenn Air couple of times since I lived here. Now remember why, what a mess. Think it is time to do redo the kitchen. Griddle offers no advantage over my cast iron pans and is a PITA to clean. But bacon...
