Not a whole lot! Mods have been a little slow recently. Have a powertrax no slip locker waiting on me to install. What’s new out in Tejas!?

Sweeet! That should be a nice upgrade. Is that similar to a detroit trutrac? thats what i've been considering for my 4wd.

Not much new going on out in TX, just trying to get used to the changing weather haha. The "cold" has been kicking my arse.. Getting ready to put a clutch in my prerunner in the next few weeks!

Yes and no. It’s a full automatic locker but has great road manners so you can put it in a DD with only having to change your driving habits slightly. Just need a full day to tear out the rear and put it in and make sure I do it right.

It’s been pretty cold up here in SC so I understand where you’re coming from.

Good to know.. i will have to look into these a little more. I daily drive my truck, so i really dont want it to misbehave on the road. From everything i've read, the trutrac is more like an LSD and it is a good choice for a daily driver/weekend warrior. I just want some extra traction since my truck is supercharged. It spins the tires all the time now haha..

So you going to try to tackle the install yourself? I think gears are the one thing i dont believe in my abilities to do ha.. I will leave it up to my buddy near me to help me with that. Want to put some 4.10s in the truck too, so may try and have it all done at the same time

Yeah that tru trac is a LSD and I looked at those and went locker since I am a prerunner. And from what I’ve read and heard the only problem driving is if you accelerate through corners you might get a little tire bark/spin. However if you coast through the corner and only accelerate once you’ve completed your turn then you will be okay because the no slip will release and act similar to a lsd.

And yeah it seems pretty cut and dry install. Drop rear, remove axles and remove a couple pins to get the spider gears out. Then put the locker in and replace the pin. @EatSleepTacos and another guy in the SC thread have both installed one at their houses with minimal tools needed.

Randy also has a write up on his install if you want to read more about it here.

Nice write up in there. If i wheeled the truck, i would probably go that route, but my truck is a lowered pavement princess, so i think i will go with the trutrac. Definitely some good info though! Seems like most of the misbehavior with that can be avoided just by adjusting your driving habits. Very good option over a selectable locker where you have to wire things up or plumb in the air lines for an ARB. The ARB was a pita to install on my prerunner. Had to run wiring and then plumb it too.. not something i want to do anytime soon lol

Yeah it seems like the best bang for my buck and will serve my purposes for what I need it to do. I don’t wheel a ton but I’ll get a lot of use out of it in the mud and stuff on the fire roads I run in the mountains.

Price was my main thing. I would’ve liked to have a selectable but that $1200 price tag hurt my soul. I picked this locker up for like $350 after I caught a sale on eBay.

Definitely can understand that. The price is a killer on the selectable lockers. I've never heard of folks running into problems with the lunchbox style lockers so i dont see a reason not to run one if you wheel, especially for the difference in price, seems like a no brainer

Yeah it’ll be a whole new truck once I get it installed. Maybe this weekend if I can just get to work and do it.
