That trail they were going down is a great one, a bit of mud and rocks but nothing like hurricane, I will organize a trip up there soon!

It has. May have calmed down some compared to 8 months ago. That rd is a tough one lots of issues with private vs not vs easement. To me it's just best to stay away these days.

Richland Rd. google it. It's a pretty neat little rd similar to Hurricane. But it's riddled with legality issues so it's not the best to go out there anymore.

I was wondering about the water crossings in hurricane! It's suppose to have a 40% chance of rain December 1! I was wondering how deep the crossings are? And see if we can make it though @Dangerdave @CaptainAmericaTRD

The forecast is cloudy Friday and chance of rain late Saturday! Suppose to be in the 50's! I'm gonna check on the weather maybe in mid week to check and see if the rain will hold off

It takes a TON of rain to make those crossings deep enough to be sketchy.

Only downside is the trail condition. It gets soupy and slick really fast which can seriously increase the pucker factor on some bits that have a drop off or narrow bits around trees.

Yeah, and toyota seals up the battery pretty good, and the air intake is tucked away nicely in the fender so you can go through even headlight deep water if necessary for the 15 foot wide stream that hurricane has. I agree with @Dangerdave though, the water crossings are the easiest part of hurricane.

I’ve seen em pretty gnarly but that was after a couple weeks of steady rain and flooding. I was out hiking that area but I think I would have still been able to get the jerp across with minimal stress or fear

Thank you guys for the info! My friend was worried about the crossings! You'll have to hit me up! I'd like to go back with you guys some time

It doesn't take much to kill you dead with water. The fender intake sucks my wheel kicked up enough to ingest into the engine and lock a cycl up bending a rod. I would never go headlight deep because that is how high the intake is.

God, Skip I’m still sick over that, for you :(

Hurricane has never been close to that high on the water crossings though. Even back in the day when my Jeep was all stock it was never over the tires. Those crossings are pretty wide so it would take so much water to fill them up that the rest of the trail would likely be impassable.

Definitely good advice, I’m not arguing against.. I’ve just never seen hurricanes crossings that deep and can’t imagine a time they would be and you’d still be able to get through the other parts of the trail lol

My point was more to not think that having the intake in the fender is a good spot and tucked up and hidden well, that and headlight deep water would be ok. I'm more sick that it cut into gear and locker money :pout:. Hell the cost to get home I could of done the front diff. That was one expensive wheeling trip but still one hell of a good time and fun even though I only got to wheel my truck for 10 min and 200 yds.
