I recently replaced my head unit with a pioneer 4400 unit. Kept all steering wheel controls. Kept all factory settings with the help of maestro rr. Message me and I can send you details. Also...wireless Apple car play, or android auto mirroring, whatever floats your boat.

Not too bad of an upgrade. If you’ve got a decent like new conditioned head unit...I sold mine at infotainment.com. Message me and I’ll tell you how much I got for my factory unit, it’s not a bad offset at all.

This link was posted back on page 4 and worked for me. My dealer also did an update about 2 weeks ago and so far seems to still work fine with iPhone.

Install kit? If you’re talking about the bracket, it’s the Metra kit from Amazon. Otherwise I posted all the other pics 34D3CD4E-1D8C-4423-9A36-EF11069F3425.jpg

Like a bunch of people in this thread, I ditched Entune (pretty much right away). I haven't seen anyone else mention it but I'm Kenwood as the head unit, factory fit, got an adapter for the steering wheel controls, and voila I've got Carplay and use that for everything. It's completely ridiculous that Toyota pretends Entune is even viable, much less better than what Apple or Google produce.

The only thing I don't have after the conversion are things like gas usage history (I still get mileage per tank etc, but the graph of last X minutes is driven by the computer in the entune unit, so I dont get that). Never bothered me a bit and having a head unit fully integrated to my contacts, locations I go, hit a button for Siri etc buries Entune in convenience.

I also replaced the stock speakers with Focal and added an Infinity sub (Basslink SM) behind the rear seat; difference of night and day audio wise, if that's your thing. But I don't blame Toyota for that, it's really rare for any vehicle, even pretty expensive ones with stereo upgrade packages, to approach what you can do with a decently amped and tuned custom output.

Just for reference, when I pulled my Entune I was using an iPhoneX and that presented no problems. It was working exactly as poorly as factory design =).

Lucky. I would give anything to have my radio work as poorly as factory designed.
I get a call while listening to music. It’s a full restart every single time.

My 4Runner did that crap all the time. Answer call, radio reboots.

The Entune head unit in my Taco was in there for three days... now it's sitting on a shelf waiting for lease turn in.

I like the look of it the stock one and honestly don’t mind the rest but what I can’t take is how incapable the voice recognition is. Is there any way to just do a software change or something with the stock head unit? I could pronounce my words like a speech therapist and it still doesn’t understand me.

I’m liking Entune navigation for the simple matter of being able to input GPS co-ords if I don’t have the street address.
Also using mostly XM talk radio and no issues there for me.

Entune fine and dandy by me.
