    :der:

When the hell would you not want boost romping around a fire road...or going up a pass?? Thats exactly when I want boost!

That sounds over complex for little benefit. If you're going for a compound system just let it compound. Why bypass it?

    haha damn man. Good luck!

Snapped off that strap mount. I love rust.

E: I thought these 2nd gen wheels weren't supposed to rub. These rub on the frame at full lock.

Partial throttle boost for miles and miles up a mountain highway to keep up with traffic- no thanks. Maybe I need a trans rebuild, valve body for better kick-down (not re-gearing I'm on 31s), but I don't like boosting just to keep a decent speed because the truck wants to hold a low gear- no need for all that fuel wasted and higher EGTs. Fire road romping- have to admit its TBD, maybe when I run the bypass I'll realize the boost is a good thing.

Thats the point man! And IMO thats why I got flack on the other forum, but again I just admitted it in my earlier posts, its not practical, its EAF BS modding! What sucks with compound is its also compound heat- look at it like this, the S/C jacks up the heat being non-intercooled AND is a parasitic drag on the motor, then add some boost on top of that that with a T/C- IMO what a waste of a T/C, just get a bigger S/C if you need that additional boost that our small S/C cannot provide. Now imagine twin-charged, the S/C gives you that nice instant boost in the low-end, well below where the T/C does anything for you, then all that extra power, extra exhaust, gets that T/C spun up all that much faster, and then instead of just piling on top of that S/C's heat and keeping that parasitic drag, cut off the S/C, killing the heat it was adding and going back to a negligible drag on the motor crank. Twin charging using the EMU's 7th injector PWM, or an ardiuno, to control a solenoid for the S/C bypass control would be an interesting project that IMO pays dividends over compound boost--- and again BOTH being over the top, its all about the EAF.

Ah, get a manual :p problem solved haha :p

on the fire roads..thats when the devil horns come out for me and I drive fast. Boost makes it so fun.

I think its too complex of a system worth any effort haha If you added a meth/water kit post IC for the blower you'd be golden anyways and it would run just as good. No need for all that complex stuff. I mean lets face it, chances of running a compound system is very low as the pressures would be so high you'd need to fully build a 5vzfe and thats just a bit extreme for most.

On top of that, doing a newer modern twin scroll turbo would surpass that setup most likely anyways. Be more efficient, and be just as fun to drive. The whole "Superchargers have better low end torque over turbos" is not true anymore. Turbo technology has advanced very far from even just 5-10 years ago. Thats why everything is running turbos these days not blowers and have lots of low end torque. And our motors have such a small rev range that you wouldn't want a large turbo anyways so you'd get a smaller one and have full boost easily by 2k rpms or less with a twin scroll.

Oh yeah, you are LT! Of course it is. My little 'ole mid travel setup keeps my speed lower- IMO the boost just burns fuel, I'd rather have the N/A powerband in some situations. But hey, with just a flick of the switch I can have it either way! (not talking about twin-charge, but my S/C bypass mod I'm doing).

Totally agree. Maybe its because of what I do in the civilian side, but complexity is part of the fun. But seriously agree, as in I've been looking at water/meth kits for a while agree. In fact I feel for just a TRD S/C setup a good water/meth kit could take the place of all other alternatives.

Im going with a wath/meth kit next. Very helpful for a roots blower like ours.

IMO its an all-in-one solution, should work out great. On the AEM FIC on E85 the truck was f'ing amazing, so if water/meth has similar effect, OMG, you are set. But that circles me around to my point (as I ran water before), running miles of partial throttle boost up a mountain freeway pass just eats up that water/meth tank, all the more reason to have a switch to be able to turn it off. Or... have a manual trans haha.

well..I'll go for the manual option as its free haha

That said, Im on 5.29s too so the rpms are always pretty high..Is a concern I have though. But not something Im that worried about as its not a DD. Rig only.

Haven't welded them on yet. I will probably get to it on Saturday. They look like they will fit perfectly. Currently painting the new Chevy 63" springs. Next I will install the new AC Delco bushings in the leaf springs. Getting the old bushings out is a PITA.

I am having the same issue. it started after the clutch replacement.
I guess I better go ahead and replace it then. :(

It will be a pain, everything I have done has turned into a pain. Every simple project has become huge.
I have a manual but I do have ABS. I can see it but its behind the exhaust piping. v6

It's less Tacoma and more mod
Not to mention theres pretty much zero aftermarket support for the 5vz and it's base design is not conducive to holding power at all.
