If you buy or bought the standard length King C/O's, then technically you do not need UCAs but your alignment can suffer in the long run if lifted above 1.5" over stock. If you have Extended length, you will need to get UCAs. You can level the truck with the rear and keep the stock leaf pack or add a 3 piece leaf pack to get a 1.5" lift in the rear and have it compensate for additional load-your choice

With standard Kings I lifted 2". The fronts arrived basically stock height so I raised it 2". My alignment was no problem without changing the UCAs.

The rear I used a add a leaf AAL. Which was a stiffer alternative, but great for towing and added weight from stock. I set the Kings to soft and works great. You can do leaf packs or complete replacement$ as well.

You may also consider getting the needle bearing replaced.

Installed my kings today on my 18 dclb, they came with about 3 treads showing. I turned them to 8 on driver side and 7 on passenger and after driving it around for a few minutes it settled right at 2”.... king told me they come pre set to give you a 2”. I’m guessing they are adding in the 1” that 3 rd gens come with stock over the 2 nd gens. BS! Factory is “0”! Count from there! Did the tuff country AAL in the rear feels a bit stiff but all in all feels really good.

Got them from Headstrong Offroad. I’m going with Deaver 1.5-2” AAL in the rear.

I’m glad I did. For long trips with the wife and pup, I set them babies full soft, and it’s like a cloud haha. Best decision ever

Are compression adjusters really worth the extra money?

ABSOLUTELY! So glad I took the advice. It is great, soft when you want or firm it up. Just do it!

Yes. Yes. And YES. Bed loads can vary. So can terrain. Better have and not need it then need it and not have it.

After staring at these for weeks I finally mustered up the courage to put everything on myself. Bit of a learning curve on the first side, after that the second one goes much quicker. If anyone asks you to help swapping their uca’s out, RUN. Total pita to get the through bolt in and out. Also, the only way I could get enough leverage to get my fronts adjusted was to put two of the screws on and use a wrench as a makeshift stand while I used the tool from king and a 4’ piece of steel pipe to help me turn the collar. I have the 14” 600# springs on mine and I have looked through almost related thread on here looking for how much preload to use to get somewhere in the ballpark of 2.5”. After much reading and back and forth I cranked the driver side to show 1 full inch of threads, which came out to about 9/10 threads showing and 7/8” of threads showing on the passenger side which came out to about 8/9 threads showing. I have Icon leafs in the rear and this leveled the truck out perfectly at about a 2-7/8” lift. The driver side is about 1/4” lower than the rear sides and passenger side, I’m perfectly fine with this. When I put the wheels back on and lowered it off the jack it looked like a little too much preload at first but I ran it on the highway for about 15 miles with a 5 mile run on a gravel road and it rides much better than my 5100/887 coils at 0” and rear 5160 setup I was running before. I’m planning on running it like this for a few weeks to see if it settles any and go from there, I may need to crank back the preload some if it doesn’t settle down any. Full pictures to come tomorrow morning as it was dark by the time I got back home.

Nice. I was told “15 threads on driver side” and “13 threads on passenger side”. That’s the max.

Been lurking for a while and finally installed my kings! Do you guys have any tips on how to adjust 700lb kings? I was turning the shit out of it an the coil nut adjusting tool started bending. Looking to get 8/9 threads but stopped at 5/6.

What tool are you using? If you don’t have a t-handle then get one. Also, I’m assuming that you’re doing this with the front off the ground. It’s recommended to do it when the coilover is off the truck but I was able to do it just with the front off the ground.

Yeah, I did it before putting on the tire at fool droop. I used the tool it came with, so I'll look into the t-handle. Thanks.

After 3 days of reading 77 pages, just pulled the trigger and took advantage of blackfriday deal with dsm.

Front 2.5 coilovers with adjusters. Ordering with 650 lbs springs
    Rear 2.5 with adjusters.
    Dakar HD leafs.
    Total Chaos UCAs.

I wont get around to installing them until January. But the sooner I get them the better.
