Huh that's a good idea, I've got a couple of those large Quickfists that I haven't found a use for yet and my fire extinguisher rattles around in the backseat

be even better to figure out how to bolt a Whipple blower on there..

Lol that dude used an LCE Short block..which costs $15,000 base price if I remember correctly. Up to over 20k if you do all the bells and whistles they used to do. Was running a full standalone ECU and a Greddy GTX turbo at 35psi.

That is NOT a standard build! haha

A dude made an aftercooler for a gen1 S/C, gotta search for it right now- google is kicking my ass but being a two piece he sliced stuff up, used tranny coolers and made it like a gen2 TRD setup. Easy? No. EAF, yes.

To be honest I don't know at what point 5VZ start ejecting parts. I just know that if I put the work in to lowering the compression and beefing the rotating assembly I wouldn't want to crank walk it when I decide to turn up the boost, or heaven forbid some serious boost-creep or overboost happens. I wouldn't want to be at the ragged edge all the time, you overbuild to avoid that stress. The airflow characteristics of the cam profile may not be a real problem on the 5VZ at that power level, depends on how much boost you have to push. Power is all about VE (volumetric efficiency) so if you can make it flow better you can make more power with less boost than say a more stock engine. A lot of it is going to be in the tune as well, the stock toyota ECU is a glue eating moron and will not let you even come close to approaching 400HP, then injectors, better airflow metering because MAFs suck for this kind of thing (much easier to use alpha-n or speed density to tune with and they don't foul out with higher flow like a MAF). There's a lot to think about to make it reliable, which is a big reason why we own Toyotas.

Damn 15k? Dude had money to blow. And the whippe has been done. I think 1320 Performace make one but it wasn’t pretty and ended up being parted out. The motor was built as well. Bored to 3.8 I think.

Yeah those short blocks were the last of the support for the 5vzfe from LCE. Then they just stopped offering it, obviously no one could really afford it and they didn't really want to build it if they charged that much..haha

God that thing is ugly. But doesn’t the 4.0l use an water to air? Or air to water. Whatever.

Works good though, only works on the gray body blowers though I think.

Yeah they use a water to air. Has a radiator out front. I think someone was at one point thinking of doing one for our but never happened.

    Agreed haha

35PSI just to get to 400HP, how sad is the 5VZ jeez.

Lysholm blower would be neat though

Could be squeeze more power out of the 5VZ with S/C with a full standalone? I’d imagine better and more accurate timing and fueling could go a long way over the 7th.

Id suggest the AEM FIC6 over the 7th injectors with a meth kit. You could get to probably 270hp or so. But thats it. The blower itself has a line of efficiency that once you cross you don't see much in return for running speed of the rotors. That tends to be about 10psi on our blowers.

This motor does make crazy torque. I think stock at 2k rpms its at almost 200ft/lbs. Thats like 90% torque at 2k. Pretty cool. Truck motor for sure.

Yeah I already have the 7th hooked up. And just picked up a used AFR calibrator to dial it in better. It’s probably not worth switching to the FIC now, minimal gains. But I also plan on a water meth kit and smaller pulley when it starts getting hot gain.

Which leads me to my next question I’ve been researching forever. What advantages does the aquamist have for our trucks? I get the PWM which Devils own solenoid supposedly does as well but I’d imagine that if you’re spraying meth and your injectors trim out so would the water meth. But I’m not sure.

Someone just needs to tell me the best option for water/meth kits.
