    ...or a smart one. A buddy of mine never cheated and his wife took him to the cleaners. She gets child support and LIFETIME alimony because she convinced the court that she's incapable of earning a living.

    The day after the papers were signed, she opened a dance studio. While the divorce was going through, she set up a business as an LLC with a partner, rented studio space, got insurance, etc. She knew she was going to receive a guaranteed lifetime salary so she could now pursue her dream.

    The kicker? My buddy can do nothing about the lifetime alimony thing because her business is a partnership. To get information on her salary, the business' books need to be reviewed, and in the state of NJ the privacy rights of the business partner supersede the rights of the ex-spouse.

    Between child support and alimony he pays her $3400 a month. He'll never own another house for as long as he lives.

    I have yet to hear pro-marriage argument that does not involve money. Tax benefits, insurance benefits, inheritance tax, etc. are all nothing but money. "Love" doesn't require a legal document stipulating consequences and financial responsibilities if things don't work out.

    Don't forget the equal rights amendment was defeated in 1975 and I believe that would have fix'd this shit....as for the Air Force guy getting married...once you tie the knot she gets part of your retirement from that moment on and if you don't retire then she gets an amount equal to it for the rest of her life or until she remarries.....:eek:
