Thanks Bill and I do agreee but my main question is how do you recover a vehicle that can’t be trail fixed or is so stuck/over a cliff or whatever that a guy with a 10,000 lb winch isn’t going to do the job. Some of the pics I have seen I’d think you could loose your vehicle forever.

It can be done. But it takes some very talented people with capable rigs to pull it off. Not to mention all the time it takes to coordinate such a venture

You should test both any new vehicle and your ability to controll that vehicle in a controlled environment before an uncontrolled one. Safety first folks.

You carry the spare parts that are most likely to break. I can get off most trails with duck tape, hose clamps, or ratchet straps.

If those won’t fix it. You need friends. I know the people I go wheeling won’t leave me behind and I would never leave them.
If I have to tow them out or carry them to get parts so be it. Whatever it takes

Yeah, words of wisdom right there. From my personal experience, it's absolutely invaluable to have someone with a small, shi**y stick welder in your group if at all possible and you aren't already carrying 8,000 tons of other trail sh*t. lol

It doesn't have to be done show-worthy or pretty. Just good enough to get you home, or at least to a better recovery spot. If it looks stupid, but it works, it ain't stupid. :D

I parked in the 3rd row once at the grocery store between a Yukon and Jetta because I was in a hurry. I was sweating bullets the whole time. It was INSANE!

Whaaaa!? That's nuts man, glad you made it back ok. I don't trust my skills to jury rig stuff like that and get away with it. That's crazy haha.

You're dependent on other's willing to volunteer to literally drag you out to a place a tow truck can get get to. There was a fella not long ago in SoCal that ripped is rear axle off and literally had to be dragged miles to get off the trail. His main problem was listening to really bad spotting/recovery.
