I have something odd going on in my 2009 Tacoma. When I have the A/C on, and airflow is directed to the front vents, I have a different temperature coming from each of the four front vents. The drivers left is the coldest. As you move across the front of the vehicle it gets warmest when you are at the front passenger right vent. This vehicle does not have dual temperature control so one of the sides having a wrong temp setting cannot be the issue.

I've been told by one person that it is the A/C Heat Blender Actuator that is the problem. If it has failed I would figure it would be "Stuck" in A/C or Heat mod, and not a graduated blend across all the front vents.

I'd appreciate any help anyone may have.

It can stick in a partial position just like it does when you raise the temp control.

The center vents should typically be the coldest, but not but by a few degrees.

    What are you measuring?

I have had the entire HVAC box apart and I can tell you that the blend doors leak. There is not temperature regulation of hot water inputs, like a valve, on our systems but only partial openings of the plastic blend doors. The doors have rather thin foam cell pieces glued to them and the glue has been known to become unglued. Sometimes to the extent of the foam jamming sideways. There are a couple of TSBs related to the blend doors and one related to the defroster door. I performed them on my '09. What I got out of the job was increased howling......

Your problem is more than likely a low R134a refrigerant charge due to a small leak. I recently went through the exact same scenario with my 2012 Cool on the left vent and progressively warmer as you move to the far right passenger vent which was almost ambient temperature.

High pressure line, Low pressure line and a Condenser/Drier, Evacuated and recharged and it's all good now.

Clearwater Bill - As I stated the coldest vent is the drivers left, and then the driver's right vent is a bit warmer, then the passenger left vent is warmer yet, and finally the passenger right vent is at room temperature.

For all - what I did check was turning off the A/C and changing the Cold/Hot dial to the hot side, all the vents matched in "hotness". Only after the A/C is activated and the Cold/Hot knob turned to the cold side do I get the weird graduated vent output from the front four vents, with coldest on the driver's left and transitioning to warmest on the passenger right.

I'm gonna try charging the A/C system tomorrow and see if that makes any difference. I post the outcome here. Thanks for all the opinions.

Did you read my text? I had exactly the same symptoms as you. If you are going to have it charged at least do it correctly and do not use one of those r134a cans from Walmart. You could do more damage by over or undercharging as those cans do not look at the whole picture.

If you do not have a proper gauge setup and tools I would take it to a good independent AC Shop and have them evaluate what you have rather than guessing.

Should have made my question clearer, as I knew what you were 'physically' measuring.

What I meant was what are the actual temps you are measuring, in degrees, at each location.

But to tag on to @Jimmyh if you don't have a guage set to measure hi/lo, etc. take it to a pro. It's not worth making something worse by indiscriminately trying to force a batch of 134 in the low side and 'hope'.

Clearwater Bill, I do have A/C gauge to measure the present charge and how much is needed, or if any is needed. I haven't measured yet. I'll post what I find.
