Hey guys, wanted to know if any of you use a portable heater for camping in your tents? I know there is Mr. Heater and Little Buddy, I was just curious about any other options for a heater using a propane for the tent. Thanks! Oh, if anyone knows of any NOT TOO HARDCORE trails to take to isolated camp spots in Southern Cal up to Yosemite area? Just not wanting to have to rock crawl to get to beautiful spots to camp with the wife and kids. Thanks guys!

I've used our Little Buddy heater tons of times. Never at altitude i guess, so I've never had it shut off for that reason before. It works great. I used it in Alaska down to -6*F. I wasn't totally comfortable, but i was in a cheepo Walmart sleeping bag, and i was only mildly uncomfortable. i still slept through the night. i always have an extra carbon monoxide detector and i always leave one of the windows open just a crack, but it's never gone off. I also got the adapter hose to use a 20lb tank. the 1lb tanks don't last through the night and you wake up cold and have to change the bottles. definitely worth the investment.

Well then... that would actually work just as well! Had not even thought about that and I bet I can get that on Amazon or somewhere that would not charge $22 for shipping...

Spent 4 days doing the Mojave Road. I’ve got the RTT packing procedure down pretty good now. Just wish there was a little more room under the cover to fit my cold weather sleeping bag. Other than that I’m still loving the tent.

It's mounted on two bars made out of 1-5/8" x 1-5/8" unistrut with L-brackets bolting it to the bed rails using t-slot nuts. Works really well and held up great during the entire trip. A cheap alternative until I order a full size bed rack.

Not bad at all. We really lucked out. The first night it was really windy until we finished setting up camp and then everything calmed down which was great.

I think if we would have just done the road itself we could have completed it in a couple of days, but we stopped quite a bit to check out points of interest along the route. Still didn't get to see everything I wanted, so we'll definitely be making another trip out there.

Here's a link to pictures of our trip if you're interested.

Any experience with the Weatherhood? I'm looking to camp in near 0 degree weather and was wondering how much worse the Weatherhood makes condensation, is the trade off worth it?

What is the usual time to fold up an RTT? A 2-person tent, in particular... Some say a few minutes, some are bothered by the "billowing" effect.

I did it in my garage a few times (havent got it mounted yet) but I'd be surprised if it took anyone more than 5 mins.

I've never timed myself, but I'd say less than 5 minutes. I don't worry too much about the tent walls sticking out after it's closed, I just make sure that the roof sections between the metal bars fold inward. I'd say that the reason it takes some people longer is because they either have too much bedding left in the tent or they're trying to get everything folded into the tent too perfectly.
