Ps install them through the grill..takes 2 seconds

 

Through the grille grille, or through the bezel (as opposed to through the fender well)?

(I haven't had the "grille" off yet, so I don't know what all is easier to access (if anything), with it off.)

 

Oh not through the wheel well? I'm not sure I understand how to install them through the grill.

2 screws, push pins. The grill pops right out. 2 more push pins for the air damn in front of the radiator and those come right out. Now you can just reach right in and undo the 1 screw that keeps them in.

For 3rd gens fyi. Forgot these go back to 2012. I'm sure it's close to the same though .

 

I was so ready to order some new fogs but now that BD is bringing out something SAE legal in a few months I'm going to hold out and see what it is before purchasing anything.

 

I’m also quite interested in what they will come out with.

In other news the amber Morimotos are supposed to ship next week.

 

@m603holden did you have to adjust your G4's any or were they ideal right out of the box?

 

I had to adjust mine down quite a bit.

 

Does anybody know if the stock TRD offload fog lights can be adjusted?
Watching guys removed them (YouTube) it looks like it just takes 1 screw...not sure how much adjustment there is with that.

Hey folks! Sorry I went MIA. Between work trips, then the holidays, and some personal stuff, I got pretty behind. Anyway, I'm back in action.

I can't guarantee anything, but if we can garner enough interest then I would be able to ask for approval for a group buy. This wouldn't be until probably early January, but I'll create a mental note of how many folks I have that are interested in them! Speaking of being MIA, if I missed a question here, please ask me again! You wouldn't believe the number of alerts and PMs that I came back to after less than two weeks of being "offline". I tried to catch all of them, but I am sure I missed some.

 

Pretty sure there is an adjustment screw on the bottom for beam height.

I recommend changing one light at a time, adjusting the new one to match the beam cut off of your existing OEM unit, then swap out the other one and adjust it to match. Far easier than changing both and having to refigure it out.

 

Do not need to remove grille, or at least I didn't. Just use a piece of masking tape to hold screw to a stubby Philips screwdriver. I did not attempt to adjust aim though. I did not want to remove grille because I recently had the radar sensor aligned, not sure how sensitive that system is.

Do not under any circumstances do it through the wheel well, I wish I had never watched that youtube video.

 

I have no serious complaints about my amber G4s, but I was quite surprised at the wide angle they have. I am not usually interested in stuff that is going on 60 degrees off the bow. Is this for cornering?

Thanks for confirming that the amber output is less than the white model output. So much BS on manufacturers' websites for these products.

 

Good god, that's like an eternity, man!

 

The OEM TRD fogs are even wider. Part of the purpose of a fog light is to find the fog line (white line) or centerline on the roadway at very low speed in dense fog. Wide patterns help you see the edges of the road and beyond to get your bearings. If the pattern is narrow, it isn’t as helpful in dense fog as while you might see immediately in front of you, you don’t have the situational awareness to see that the road is turning until you are almost driving off of it. Fog lights are not aux driving lights, and should only be run when needed. Increased foreground light from fogs reduces your distance vision.

There is certainly lots of misleading and confusing information on LED sites, some much worse than others. I find KC actually has pretty good info overall on their site. Keep in mind the specs state ‘raw lumens’ not actual output.

 

This is what their data sheet said at the time I ordered about six weeks ago. Seems to imply amber output is the same as white, 866 lumens.

 

Pardon my ignorance (I need to get out more), but many light trucks/SUVs have been running around for YEARS now with 4 bright sources of white light out the front. What purpose are the lower 2 supposed to serve? I've noticed that, while the headlights may be aimed properly, those lower 2 lights are often all over the place.

It was interesting to see Dan Stern mentioned here. A while back, I got the distinct impression that later model year vehicles were spewing out much more useless white light out the front than in past years. I searched around trying to find some evidence to support this notion and ran across a lengthy rant-and-rave by Dan saying, essentially, just that. He had said that he hoped the DOT would address the problem sometime soon. I then noticed the post was from 15 years ago, so I decided I shouldn't hold my breath waiting for change.
