I have Android Auto in the GMC and I despise it. I'd rather have my phone free of it's shackle to the truck, but my GMC has navigation built in so it's less of an issue.

Android Auto navigation uses Google Maps. The OEM Entune navigation is about as useful as a screen door on a submarine, and you have to purchase new maps every few years, Android auto would be a much better way to go. When I go on road trips, I use my Android phone for navigation, would be nice to have google maps on my Entune.

Did you read the whole article? 199 plus 2 hours of dealer labor. For that you could buy a unit from crutchfield and install it yourself.

Oh, gotcha, the GMC nav is actually really great. I just didn't like not having control of my phone when it was tethered, which if we are being honest is probably a good thing.

Instead of android auto, I would like to see a straight android headunit.

Something that can stand on its own without a phone, but can connect to your phone for internet.

I doubt you can find a good Android unit for $199. I rather have the dealership install something from Toyota.

I think they mean it’s $199 for parts and another $200 in dealer labor. For less than $399 you can get a budget head unit with android auto/CarPlay.

IMHO if Toyota offered this upgrade at this price - I’d do it just to retain the factory look. As much as I love aftermarket bezels...

Would pay for an upgrade like this. Even with a manufactures built in Nav. They're always and usually a horrible user experience.

I agree, retaining factory look, function, and reliability is important consideration. In summary, I'd be happy to shell out $400 to integrate Android Auto into my OEM head unit, for an OEM approved and tested upgrade.
