That was more of a personal decision. With a manual the detroit can/will unlock/lock each time you shift and provide a (not-so) fun surprise, especially if you're driving in the rain or snow. It's not terrible, but it can catch unexpecting drivers off guard.

Also, I've never driven enough to actually wear out a set of tires. My current set is about due to be replaced due to dry rot so I'm not too worried about wearing them out faster either.

Welded diff is fine in the rain/snow. Drove 12 hours Sat/Sun with snow and ice and never had to use 4wd

What do the KMC caps look like? For the TRD caps, the alumn parts is just held on with double sided tape. If you heat it up you can seperate it from the plasric backing. Then stick em on the KMC centers if they look similar... flat & slightly raised.

ugh I'm at my fucking wit's end with this popping noise coming from the rear of my truck...done everything I can think of to remedy it but it's just getting worse. Oddly there are occasions it goes away but then will come back and be worse than ever. I'm going to cave and bring it to a local offroad shop a few miles from my house.

My poly bushing were worn, but they 7 years old. Plus my bearings in my shock rod ends died. Loose bolts anywhere you think? My rear suspension popped when I turned sharp.

I've checked and tightened everything in the rear...numerous times. My leaf spring bushings are all pretty new...put them in over summer with the Expos.

You know now that I think about it....on one side of the rear shackles I didn't have a steel bushing sleeve so I used one that was a bit too large for the bolt, I wonder if it's broken or compromised that bushing somehow. Think I'll take that one apart and see what's what

The wife is getting bummed that every time I'm home lately I'm outside working on the truck lol. Sucks that I can't do it during the day, work be damned

weird that it was fine for the past few months though, but yeah you're probably right. Or it moved around enough to break the bushing and now it's got even more play

I was one sleeve short with the Daystar kit so I used a Dakar bushing sleeve which was wider, so the sleeve itself can move freely in the bushing...might have ruined it. I bought another set of Daystars though to have on hand in case this happened so I'll take it apart and put the correct one in
