Meh, just tired of some of the community here, don't really come on that often anymore.

 

The bimmer forums got that way for me (mostly "rich" kids), I was glad to sell and upgrade to a Tacoma.

 

This is about the only thread I come to.

 

Question for everyone:

I've replace all u-joints and center bearing on my rear DS, ensuring proper indexing and still have a vibration. With the DS removed, I noticed a little vertical play in the xfer case output shaft.

I'm not sure if this is normal or not?

 

I have no idea. I might check youtube.

 

I don't know either. But I will say, every time I've taken my drive shaft off, there was no play in the TC output shaft in any direction...

 

The play is minimal, but this vibration is driving me crazy and won't take long to cause damage.

Haven't had a chance to check, I just got the driveshaft back in and called it a night.

I'm only at 75k, so I shouldn't be having an issue there.

 

No, you shouldn't. But it's a free check. Fyi, mine was good as new at 30k.

On truck note- Gotta swap out ANOTHER diff, replace a drivers side CV oil seal. Spark Plugs/Motor Oil/Blower Oil/clean filters/Do some of the mods on here/replace cam bolts/get another alignment/possibly self paint fenders/solid motor and trans mounts/take a giant hammer to inner fenders before December Pismo trip. Also still have projector retrofit sitting on shelf with backup lights since day 1 lol, and short tube headers and a full audio system. Those are secondary to the other stuff currently, but will happen someday.

Also need all 6 shocks rebuilt, but all quotes are for about a grand. Thinking on doing it myself, but not sure how to actually revalve, need to study up more.

Once I went 35s lost ALOT of power, even with the regear. 34s were pretty nice with 4.56 but lost alot of top end speed (on closed course obviously). Just recently saw that ECGS Sells Yukon 4.3 gears, semi considering going with those just to not be at 3k rpms at 80. But meh. Hence my talking about suping up the engine. Would be nice to about 400 or so to the wheels and not have to worry about engine grenading.

 

Also Also, thinking I might have tweaked a spindle a few months ago when a lower LCA bolt decided enough was enough and snapped as I was backing out of a parking spot. Didn't really think much of it but my camber went about a full degree negative on that side. Alignment guy said cam bolts were done and needed new ones, so new ones I have. Gonna pop the tire off in the AM and see if theres any cracked welds or deformation in the spindle. Would explain why my steering wheel is at 10 o clock and they could barely get a reasonable alignment done. (also went from 7 degrees of castor to 3.4, so rub city these days)

I’ve thought of regearing to 4.10 to regain a little power and get the effective gear ratio closer to stock, but even at 3.73 it seems like it revs too high on the freeway. Maybe if I ever go up in tire size it might be worth looking into.

 

I would love 410 or 430. Seattle freeways top out at 40mph anyway.

 

Yeah 4.56 with 295/5/16 was a blast from about 0-75, but then it was pretty much over 3k rpms so cruising on California freeways I was constantly running at 3k or so lol.

and Yeah, just alot of shit I've been unable to do due to working a bunch lately.

 

4.56 here and looking forward to 5.29 when I go to 37's. Regearing is the best mod ever. Regearing = s/c

 

What's that cost? 1500? Is it a diy mod?

 

Depends, with locker? From ECGS? You can build a diff with them and have it sent to you and then pay to send your stock diff back to them. I think end cost is AROUND 1500$ when you get core charge back and everything. Then install, pull axles out, remove DS, pull out diff, put new diff in, push axles back in, reconnect DS, dont break anything.
