How? After at 1:26 he turns his truck on and presses the button. I did the same exact thing in my video but mine doesn't turn on.

Did you test the lights in your house outlet first? It's possible something blew a fuse.

That's true for the 12v power outlets in the cabin. At least for 3rd Gen, the 110v ac outlet in the back won't get power unless the engine is running. (though at least one member says he gets power w/o running the engine).

In any case, looks like the OP is doing it right but not getting the right results. All I can suggest is starting from scratch with the engine running and pushing that switch twice instead of just once, Justin Case the first push is turning it off for a reset. If that's not working then it's not working.... fuse? inverter? wiring?

Checking fuses and all the fun stuff that I can, already made an apt on Saturday. Hoping it's just a loose fuse I can pop back in so I don't have to make the trip.

Owner's Manual, page 415: the protection circuit may be activated to cut the power supply if any of the following conditions apply: The engine is started with the power supply circuit main switch on.

Went from 3rd Gen Taco to 3GT4R to 2nd Gen Taco and finally a V8 4GT4R.
I can confirm this. I have used the outlet without the truck running in the past. However, I wasn't running anything that has large power draws.

Just a note, there are spare fuses and a fuse puller under the cover in the engine bay. I have no idea where you would be looking for the inverter fuse / relay / breaker.

There you go! A warm-ish vehicle in winter and a cool-ish vehicle in summer is a bit of addicting. Like you said, the workspace is the best though.

I don't doubt you at all.... but my truck won't run that outlet without the engine running. It does work with the engine running and operates exactly like my owner's manual says it should operate. You won't convince me otherwise. :)

I wonder if the difference is in model years.

There are also slight differences between MT and AT. As long as it works, though . . .

Yea, maybe. I was thinking the battery condition also might be a variable. We all know how great the stock batteries are (sarcasm).

Being a dork, it might not be the stock batteries, but the chemistry in general. Lead acid is not a fan of parasitic draws and cars of this generation are full of them. You can hear the ECU hum well after shutdown, the fuel pump does its daily (long) cycle check, the alarm, and probably the head unit are all drawing power. If the Taco is not a DD, then it will really hammer the battery.

Which is a reason I don't know if I would be happy with a system that could potentially draw the battery down to the point where it wouldn't start the engine, which could happen running an inverter with the engine off. Unless there is a safeguard built in to shut the system down if the battery got below a certain voltage you could find yourself stranded somewhere after running your appliances for too long.

I had a motorhome with a fancy "smart" inverter that would run the house batteries down to nothing while sitting there searching for a load. Even with it and everything switched off it was still drawing power. The only way I could outsmart that thing was to pull the main fuse whenever I put the rig away for any length of time.
