Fox 2.0 Coilover IFP and rear 2.0 Remote Reservoir review

Got the fronts off and adjusted them in a hydraulic press - both sides done in an hour flat total.

So - here she is leveled/raked how I wanted - went up 6 turns on passenger side and 9 on drivers - I’m within 1/8” left to righ in the front and dead level in the rear. Pretty happy overall - and - alignment this Wednesday and new wheels and tires that day as well.

Below in order is:
- stock
- fronts on
- fronts on (not adjusted) and rear shocks and AAL on
- fronts on and adjusted up 6 pass and 9 drivers, along w rears and AAL in

Good progression shots.

 

Wheels and tires went on today to round out the build. Cap is next - but - need to recover from the expense of the suspension and wheels/tires for a minute.

 

Don't see why you couldn't adjust on truck as long as you compress spring till pressure is of the seats.
If the spring compressor will fit in there?
Let us know if you do it.
I'm thinking of doing it for some fine tuning.

 

I took them off to adjust them before they were aligned. Wasnt enough room to get a compressor in there - and - even off - the compressor I have didn’t work well with the thick springs and tighter coils. I used a hydraulic press - worked like a charm. Had both offf, adjusted, and back on in less than an hour.

The ride of the truck is 100% better than stock and the stance is great!

 

@mattylmbr Damn truck looks awesome! Been following the thread for a while now, nice to see your progression. Just wanted to see how much lift you got after settling and all that. 2" all around? Also are those 285's you got on now?

 

I netted 2” all the way around after adjustments and settling.

The tires are 275/70 17 KO2’s

im really considering going to the fox 2.0. my 5100s are alittle stiff for my driving.
I read the entire thread, but i couldnt not find what you all are getting "out of the box" for your 3rd gens? I keep hearing people say that on a 2nd gen- 2" lift, and 3rd gen is 1".
I have been searching my butt off, cant find a definitive answer. Thanks!
Also those that have come from 5100s, was on road manners better with these?

 

I got a hair over 1” out of the box on my 3rd gen and adjusted to 2”.

Went up 6 on passenger side and 9 on drivers.

I now have over 39K miles on mine, just spent a week in Moab running trails and a 2nd week in CO. No problems at all with these coilovers. We drove over 2600 miles in a little over 2 weeks

 

Hey guys and girls looking to upgrade my suspension to my TRD off-road 2008 Dumbledore Tacoma with camper shell. I was going to go with the Bilstein 6112 but then I saw the fox 2.0 . Seems like to me the price is roughly the same but I know Fox and Bilstein been around forever. Just need your feedback

 

Welcome to TW, I hope you read all 18 pages, there is a wealth of information to be had. I went with FOX 2.0s, I now have over 39K miles on them. No problems at all. In the rear I run expedition springs now with air bags. Here is a heavy load. Just ran over 2600 miles from Ca to Co and back.

 

Agree with @Mully here...you should definitely read all if not most of the thread. We BS'd a bit but for the most part everyone who has responded gives pretty good detail on their install experience, ride change, overall impression, etc

Will do, I'm probably going to go with 6 turns on the passenger and 9 on the driver side. I don't plan on doing UCAs just yet I wanted to keep this to about 1k.

 

Just finished the front, 9 turns on the driver side and 6 on the passenger on a DCLB will give you exactly 2 inches of lift up front. I have some photos I'll post later. A spring compressor won't work for the adjustment, use a press.

Yes, based on my findings that is true.

Below is a photo it looks level, but the front is an inch higher than the rear. The drivers side was a little more difficult to get in since it was a little longer than the passenger. I had to removed the knuckle from the upper ball joint and use a pry bar. The passenger side just slid on in, it took about an hour and a half total.



All finished, I do have a 1 inch block coming, I'll put it in later
