I am so confused with the whole HAM thing. I really need to sit down with someone to show me and explain. I get more confused trying to read about the different bands power outputs etc. I'm probably going to go with the simple kenwood radio it's DIN sized and will be permanent in the truck. Not a huge fan of the hand held deal even though I see the value if both spotter and driver have them. Having a set of simple 2 way radios can do that also.

Too rich for my blood at over 300 bucks for a radio. If I were to get hardcore into it I would look into really good equipment.

Ok now you got me looking at them again. So now I am finally starting to put some sense to it seeing some more terms I am use to since some of this is what I've used with boating in the VHF/UHF. The Kenwood TM281 is what I am looking at but it is only a single band. So if I went out with guys not running the same bands as me then I'm screwed? Looking at the one you posted and then some Yaesu ones they are many bands and then different power outputs. Looking at the antenna they seem to be paired to the bands you wish to run and power output of the radio?

I am familiar with Icom from boating as that is pretty much what most people run and are pretty tough.

Am I on the right track here.

Been a busy couple of days! I hope everyone had a happy and safe Thanksgiving!

Woke up to TITS on Saturday!

    20181124_122134.jpg

Took a bonus day off today because my youngster decided to spike a fever last night and run it throughout the day today.

And then my water heater took a dump this afternoon...six years to the month of manufacture so no warranty for me...so I got the adventure of replacing that by myself!

    Out with the old...20181126_151918.jpg

    In with the new! 20181126_215645.jpg
Waiting to see what life will throw at me next!
