    If you want to do it yourself, there is a lot of DIY videos. Look at the retrofit source. This is where you will get the components. Also you need to find out what will fit in the 1st gen headlight. Once you get everything together. You will need to get over cutting your headlights up.

    I was going to get one piece aftermarket headlights and do the retrofit before I install them.

    That’s a great way to do it. I bought a second set of lights when I did mine. I bought used though. :(
    Looking back I wish I would of bought a new set. Or something in better shape.

    Most prople say to buy OEM becsuse "they last longer" I have a real hard time believing that seeing as all the 1st gen headlights look foggy as hell after a couple years.

    As far as leaking... I figure I have to pull them apart anyway and it will be me sealing them up... so if they leak, it's on me anyway.

    Yep, I have not had an issue with water in mine. I used the butyl and ran a small bead of silicone around the edge.

    Damn new lights are 90 bucks. Making me think I might need to get some just for the lenses.

    So should I just send some pics to the retrofit source, and ask them for a price on what I'm looking for?

    You could do that and see what they say. There is a thread on retrofit on here some where.

    I believe in you. So much I think you should do two at the same time... for training purposes. I’ll buy the extra set off you :)

    After doing my set I have considered doing a second set. I thought it was a fun project.

    @Uphillshunter just take your time.

    So here's how the headlight housing would look. Only instead of the inner being painted gray, I'd want it matte black.

    So is the part that makes the 8 slots on the outer edge of the projector, (left and right light) in the pic below, some kind of shroud the projector fits in, to make it so it's not a solid ring like in the upper pictures?

    changing it to black is easy. I would paint the entire inside black but that's just me. Not sure how it would look with just the reflector painted black. Just prime and paint its that easy. Get your lights and lets start doing this. :D

    I like the halo that is behind the shroud. Not overly excited about the halo around the projector.
