Android Conversion

I did a install and system review when it came out for the uconnect and I bugged the heck out of support on the install.

I'm definitely interested if there is going to be a group buy! That's one feature that is lacking that I really wish mine had. And of course the adaptive cruise!

Can you not just use a screen mirroring option and then connect directly to your phone? I thought I saw a system and it was fairly cheap.

 

No functionality is lost

 

They do make miroring devices but this is much more.

 

The android unit should ship Friday or Saturday. Hopefully i can have a detailed review next weekend.

 

None. You press the menu button twice and it turns it into an android touchscreen interface.

I'd be interested.
Can it use the factory gps antenna? so we could use waze, google maps. Does it work with factory microphone? for google assistant ect. What happens if you get a phone call while in "android mode"? If you go into reverse does the back up cam still come on in "android mode"? So many questions!
I hate Entune, but I hate the look of dash kits more. This lets you keep factory look, huge bonus in my book.

 

it comes with a gps antenna and micl You can pair your phone to the system. The back up camera still works. You have the whole google play store at your fingertips. You can even add extra cameras and inputs It's not the simplest install but way worth it in my opinion. I've attached a video of the old system I had in my ram.

 

Man that is sweet! Glad I haven't pulled the trigger on a replacement unit yet.
I assume it can connect to a bluetooth obd2 scanner and run torque pro, but can it connect to a Bluetooth speaker and play audio outside the truck?

On a tangent here, but potentially you could link this up to a switch pro 9100 and use the head unit to control all your aux lighting.

 

if it can be controlled by an android app it will work. Yes it has bluetooth. I haven't checked out of truck audio
