Yeah protection vs price is a real downside there. It's an awful lot to pay to be secured for *just* visitors/kids.
Given enough time with a sawzall or even some big ass bolt cutters any thief could probably get right through.

I'm thinking maybe try one of those newfangled modular ones... still damned expensive.

I decided to spring for the Cyber monday deal at discount tire direct... Got me some Continental Terrain Contact AT's. $100 Mail in rebate from Continental plus 10% Mail in rebate from DTD on a full set. Plus certs.:)

Now I gotta find a trustworthy place to do the mount/balance. Anyone have a good place they would trust with expensive wheels and tires?? Road force balance is a plus but not really a dealbreaker.
My Enkeis aren't Volk TE37 level expensive, but I'll be damned if I let someone scuff them up mounting a tire.

And white letters in, or out?

    1. Continental tires? Building a street truck? With Offroad lights?

    2. Road force won’t be needed on your car tires.

    3. Bought wheels too nice to scratch?

    4. May as well put the white letters out, nothing to lose at this point it seems.

2WD, open diff, 4 cylinders tend to crush in the desert. I'm sure you were passed by 6 or 7 while racing the Baja 1000 last month, no?

The contis are a good tire by one of the best brands out there, and I am putting a shitload more commuting miles on my truck than I previously was.

I don't see what the problem is with putting less aggressive tires on a prerunner is. It's just a prerunner, right? ;)

I hope you know I was kidding and there were no 4cyl that passed us haha.

Honestly by the time we got in the truck the field was already spread out so much. We passed a couple guys but we were super alone in BF no where lol.

Let discount do it. Go over the wheels before and after. If they scratch them, they'll replace them. They do the tires on the hot rod with Weld Billet wheels and have never had an issue

This. Bring a few red bulls and monsters for the techs. Tell your writer that you want to make sure they don’t get scratched. If they know you are really worried about it they will do a good job.

Just don’t be that guy that if they barely smudge one little 2mm spot that you ask them to replace them.

Funniest thing was always the asshats that got pissed when their wheels got “scratched” from the clip on wheel weights. They clipon, when taking them off there is almost nothing you can do to avoid them taking a wee bit of the wheel with them lol. We didn’t even put them on yet it’s our fault when they came off.

I wasn't thinking that their was any 4cyl. LOL I am not smart but, smarter than that.

But I am sure that there are some passes at great speeds. That has to be such a cool experience.

I have seen Discount Tire mess up so many cars including mine I have a hard time ever going in there again. I'm not talking about scratching wheels either. They failed to tighten the wheel extenders on my GTI VR6 back in the day. Wheel went flying off doing 50 down Camelback Car was two weeks old. Thankfully it was 2 am and no one was on the road cause the wheel went flying down the opposite lanes for a couple hundred yards before ending up in someones yard. The best part was the manager accused me of sabotaging my own brand new car to get a free tire. Had to threaten lawsuit and calling local news before they would fix the 2k in damage it caused.

Then there was the time they ripped a dudes bumper off his lowered Jetta taking the car of the rack. poor dude had his bumper seatbelted to his passenger seat for a month before they fixed it. Another one was someone missed the correct jack point and put a jack through a Mercedes rear fender on the passenger side. I witnessed it and watched to see what they were going to do, they took a rubber mallet to it and did not tell the vehicle owner. When the dude was going to get his car and go I pulled him aside and told him what happened stuck around for the fireworks and to have dudes back because they pulled the that damage was there when you brought it in routine.

Bitch please, even mall crawling is too hardcore for me.

I know it’s not the style of truck being run, but I am reasonably certain the Pikes Peak Tacoma was a 2.7 3RZ block... just with a monster turbo.

Sounds like a lot of this happened at 1 location. I worked for DTC in high school and that place was well oiled. Most of the people I worked with had either lifted or lowered vehicles and the policy for "specialty" vehicles was well laid out. A manager would watch and double check most everything other than a stocker. Just with everything, there's always a few bad ones to try and spoil everything

2 locations the Jetta and Mercedes was at one and mine was at a different location. I'm sure things have changed but I dont think I'll ever forget seeing my wheel leaving my vehicle followed by the sparks from my brake rotor. I was just praying no one was coming around the corner to have that wheel impact their windshield.
