Any input on what I should ask for a barely used set of 265/75/R16 KO2's? They're MAYBE 3/4 tread at worst, about a year old. They're practically brand new. I'm considering private sale for my Tahoe, I'm still waiting for my dream taco to appear, and a guy at work is interested in the KO2's. I definitely don't want to trade the tires away to a dealer.

Ideally, everything would happen at once and I'd just trade the Tahoe. The street slicks off of the new to me taco go on the 'hoe.... the KO2's go onto the elusive '12-'14 Spruce Mica DCOR that has just waltzed into my life.... but you know...reality.

If they are 3/4s tread, I would say ask 3/4s price of current retail.

Gives you a solid reason for your pricing then gives you a good number to start haggling down from. Just figure out what the least youre willing to take is and anywhere you land between the numbers is something you and the other person can be happy with.

I told him $700 a few weeks ago. Yesterday he offered me $500 plus the tires he's pulling off. Which should be perfect for both of us. 75% of the discounttire.com price is $624. I'll see if I can squeeze a little bit more out of him, for personal reasons. Hahaha.

That's a pretty good deal since he is including his take-offs, which I'm assuming eliminates the need for you to hunt down used tires to put back on the Tahoe? Just my two cents, but I would run with that deal.

Since we are talking tires here, did you realize that most shops will not mount used tires? This is something I am learning the hard way today as I am trying to have a used tire mounted to my spare rim. Apparently it is policy at most places to not mount used tires? Hell, even the auto hobby shop on base won't touch it. Probably some liability issue, but it smacks of a sales tactic to get me to buy a new tire. I ended up calling Ron's Used Tires in Warrenton; I am pretty sure they said they would do it, but there might have been a misinterpretation of what I was asking (even though I explained it a few times). Anyway...just a heads up when you go to switch out those tires.

a place that sells used tires, should mount them. Actually @DOUBLLD just mounted 4 for me. You could go to him. He will hook you up!

Right, but I wasn't sure if they would since I didn't buy the used tire from them. I'm going to give them a shot tonight. Thanks!

@BTHawk I did know that. Actually, I've even heard of people having trouble getting new tires mounted and balanced that they bought on the internet. Shops trying to force people into paying their inflated (there's a shitty tire pun here somewhere) prices.

I've broken down and mounted a lot of tires over the years, but balancing is not something I'm capable of. Luckily there's a tire shop right down the street from my shop that we have taken all of our company business to for the last 30 years. They'll do whatever I need 'em to. Except for inspection sticker transactions around by the dumpster, they stopped that a few years back. ;)
